About Goodwood Hotel

Bloomsbury sits at the heart of London, a short walk from King's Cross and Euston stations, and it's here on Tavistock Place that the Goodwood Hotel offers its 27 rooms. The area is well placed for pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, making it a practical base for a short stay in the capital.

Rooms are simple, and guests should be aware that some have been reported as not always well kept, so this is a hotel better suited to those prioritising location and budget over polish. A restaurant and bar are on site, breakfast is served, and there's free WiFi throughout. A garden offers a bit of outdoor space, and the hotel also has meeting rooms and hosts weddings, alongside luggage storage for those arriving early or leaving late.

Free on-site parking is a useful bonus in a part of London where street parking is scarce. Staff helpfulness has been flagged as inconsistent by some visitors, so it's worth setting expectations accordingly, but the Bloomsbury setting itself remains a solid draw for anyone wanting to explore central London on foot or by rail.

Posting this as an anti-thesis to all the other reviews I’ve seen. You get exactly what you pay for. This place checks all the boxes for a good budget London visit. It’s cheap, has a good location, is quiet and small. It was perfect for me and my friend for 3 nights. And for the people complaining about the detached bathroom, YEAH look at the pictures and the description it’s not like they hide it from you. Overall this hotel is essentially like staying in a quiet, small communal bathroom style dorm room. Would stay again.

Don't book this hotel. Don't let the location or the price fool you—it simply isn't worth it. The hotel has no air conditioning, and during our stay the temperature inside the room reached around 30°C (86°F). The bathroom, which looked like it had been added later, resembled some kind of DIY solution from Mumbai. It was moldy, and the hose connected to the shower head was broken. On top of that, the shower only produced either freezing cold or scalding hot water, with the lowest water pressure I've ever experienced. The TV didn't work, and there was nothing on the ceiling except a single exposed light bulb. The room literally looked like a Soviet-era prison cell. The beds were rock hard, and the floor was covered with a damp carpet laid over an uneven surface with holes in some places. Outside the hotel, we witnessed two people being robbed of their phones, and there was constant traffic noise. Unfortunately, keeping the window fully open was the only way to get any fresh air because the hotel has no air conditioning. I give this hotel 0/10.

Pros:. The staff is welcoming and helpful. Had nothing but good interactions. Location is prime. Cons: I review a basement room Bed is a brick. Pillows are very hard Torn fabrics all over the bed. Looks like it's 40 years old. I presume everything is "cleaned" but it looks and feels like the carpet and textiles hasn't been cleaned since the previous guests. Dirt and stains are everywhere. You'll be lucky to find areas that look clean on the floor. We refused to walk bearfeet here. The tiles on the bathroom are completely full of limescale and the wood around the "window" in the shower is rotting away. No ac so the room is extremely hot and impossible to cool down. No fridge so you can't cool down with cold drinks either 😅 No towlerack or anything to hang towels on. They ended up on the floor since I tried hanging them on the doorknob No provided soap in the shower No provided towle to dry hands on in the bathroom Smell of sewage eminating from the toilet. It might have been coming from outside since when I opened the window the smell got worse. But after a while it stated smelling of sewage in the bedroom as well, when the window was open. And by window, there is no window. It looks and feels like a window but when you open it it is blocked behind so you can't see outside or wherever the window is located. Made it feel like a damp warm cave and it was impossible to know whether it was night or day. All that said it's nothing we didn't expect from the photos and reviews on Google. We just tried to stay optimistic but had to bite the bullet and check out after just one night and get another hotel. The room have a lot of potential if it got an update and some renovation work done. Maybe the other rooms are better I don't know. Stay away. Probably the worst room in London.

DO NOT STAY HERE. This was genuinely the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. We checked in, received our keys, and everything seemed fine - a little janky but that’s not even what this review is about. we decided to give it to give it a try and be optimistic. until we came back at night and were completely locked out. Both keys didn’t work, there was no staff anywhere, and the hotel phone number didn’t go through. Mind you we are 2 girls that are in college locked outside in the middle of the night. with all of our belongings trapped inside and no way to get help. After a wandering around streets we found and booked another hotel just for the night time, we returned in the morning and asked for a refund he even tried them, trying to prove us wrong and even then the keys STILL didn’t work. Instead of fixing the situation or taking any responsibility, he refused to give his name and refused a refund and said to email the hotel. So to be clear: we paid for a room we literally could not access, were stranded outside at 2AM, and were then dismissed when we asked for help/refund. This is not just “bad service” it’s completely unacceptable and honestly shocking that a hotel operates like this. There is no excuse for locking paying guests out overnight with zero support. Save yourself the stress, money, and safety risk stay anywhere else.
