About Albany Hotel

Euston station is a short journey from Albany Hotel, making this a practical base for arriving by train, while the surrounding streets of Russell Square offer easy access to London's museums, theatres and the wider pull of the city centre. The address at 34 Tavistock Place puts guests within walking distance of local pubs, restaurants and everyday entertainment.

Rooms are straightforward and functional, fitting a no-frills approach to a stay in central London, though some have been reported as not always well kept. The hotel offers a restaurant and bar on site, along with a snack bar, breakfast service and air conditioning. Guests can also make use of a gym, an indoor swimming pool and a spa or sauna, alongside meeting rooms and business facilities for those travelling for work.

Further practical touches include free on-site parking, an electric vehicle charge point, free WiFi, laundry service, luggage storage and porter and concierge support. Pets are welcome, and the property also hosts weddings. Staff professionalism has been flagged as inconsistent, so this suits travellers after a convenient, well-located stay rather than a polished one.

The room itself was like fine. Carpets and sink definitely not vacuumed/cleaned before but sheets and towels seemed to be fresh. The shared shower also has a lot of soap build up so probably wasn’t cleaned for a while as well. What was really bad though was the service. Super rude and yelled at me for having trouble with the key to my room. Then when I came back at 5am, the key for the entrance he gave me didn’t work and yelled at me for it being so early that I needed help. Wouldn’t let my friends come in to help me with my bags and instead of him offering me help, he stood looking at the door smoking a cigarette (despite the no smoking signs all over the place) to make sure my friends didn’t come in. Doorbell also doesn’t work, you have to call to get let in to the building in the first place. Also he just spit on the carpet mid conversation with me.

NO. The rooms smell of smoke despite being advertised as non-smoking. It is not a bed and breakfast as listed on booking.com. The bathrooms are not private or clean. There was a layer of dust on everything in the room. We found a crack pipe under the bed (I wish I was joking). I wouldn’t stay here again for free.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place. The room was dirty and our experience with the staff was not professional. The bathroom was decently clean and more recently renovated compared to the other parts of the hotel, but not a private bathroom as advertised. If you are wanting a place to visit nearby attractions, I would advise finding a different option.

The worst place I have ever stayed. The beds are old and extremely squeaky, and the doors and windows cannot be locked from the inside. There are stains on the carpet, and the curtains look like they haven’t been washed for at least 10 years. I cannot recommend this place to anyone. The toilet and shower are shared, but they are in a decent condition.
