About Grange Portland

Bedford Place is a leafy, terraced street in central London, and it's here that Grange Portland occupies a row of period townhouses set back from the bustle of the main roads. The location makes it a practical base for exploring the capital, with Farringdon around a mile away and plenty more of the city within easy striking distance.

The hotel has 18 rooms, generally spacious by London standards, though some are showing their age rather than feeling freshly refurbished. Guests get air conditioning, drinks in the room and free WiFi as standard, with a restaurant and bar on-site for meals and evening drinks, plus breakfast served each morning. The staff are consistently noted for going out of their way to help, which counts for a lot on a short city stay.

Beyond the rooms, facilities run to a gym, spa and sauna, an indoor swimming pool, a garden, and meeting rooms and business services for those combining work with travel. There's also free on-site parking, porter and concierge services, and the hotel doubles as a wedding venue. Pubs, restaurants and other eateries sit nearby, making it easy to head out for the evening without going far.

Hotel is in a great location. British museum is one block away. Easy public transportation. The room was ample. Very old fashioned. Unfortunately need needs maintenance. Carpet needs replacement. Lots of stains and cuts. The two small fans dont help much due no Air conditioning. Gets very hot. Should buy bigger and quieter fans. TV super small for the size of the room. Definitely not a 4 Star hotel

The only good thing about the hotel is the location. The biggest downsides are that there is no A/C in the room, so it is really stuffy. Also, there is no fan in the bathroom, so when you take a dump, you get to smell that sweet aroma 8 hours later when you leave and come back from sightseeing. The basement room sucked for me. You hear everyone on the sidewalk and the hotel staff are chattering away at 8:45 AM in the morning and it seems like they are sleeping next to you the walls are so thin. The tub is really small, feels like the Londontube, things just seem poorly laid out and curtains were dirty and the room smelled musty. You have to pay 30 dollars USD for the breakfast. Definitely not worth it. This hotel is the equivalent of a 1-star/0-star hotel in the states. London is a great city...pay the extra money to stay at a better hotel and not this dump.

The room was big, but the carpet was quite old and disgusting. The bathroom was fine. The shower was fine. Unfortunately there was a problem with the lock of our door in room and every single time we wanted to enter the room had to go two floors down the stairs to the reception to get somebody to open the door. The elevator was not working .That was so annoying that happened in our three nights stay at least 6 to 8 times . the breakfast was good and fresh. The employees were very friendly and helpful. The issue with the room was apparently that the batteries of the lock were empty . We arrived on Saturday and the batteries only replaced on Monday which I don’t understand because it took the concierge two minutes to change them .

The location is great. The breakfast is passable. The staff is awesome. But... the rooms are terrible. No AC and the windows barely open. They provide fans but you can't place them in front of the windows because there are no outlets that will reach. The wallpaper is peeling off the walls. The mattresses are very old and lumpy. This is NOT a 4-star hotel. You have been warned!
