About Griffin House Hotel

Connaught Street sits in a pocket of west London within easy walking distance of both Paddington Station and Hyde Park, with Marble Arch also close by. Griffin House Hotel occupies this convenient spot, offering 15 rooms as a base for exploring the city on foot or by rail.

Breakfast is served on site, and guests have access to luggage storage and concierge services for help with plans and directions. Pubs, restaurants and other eateries are all nearby, along with entertainment options, so there's little need to travel far for an evening out.

Staff are generally friendly and helpful, though service can be slow to respond at times, and the rooms would benefit from more consistent upkeep. For those prioritising location over polish, the hotel's position near Hyde Park and Marble Arch remains its strongest asset.

Absolutely do NOT recommend this hotel. The rooms are in terrible condition — there is mould on the walls, it’s cold, damp, and nothing feels clean. The “bathroom” and “shower room” are not even proper rooms; they are basically built into what looks like a closet, offering no comfort or privacy at all. The rooms are not cleaned, and we even had to ask a staff member to vacuum the floor right in front of us because it was so dirty. The mould, the cold, the humidity, and the overall neglect made the stay completely unacceptable. Because my friend has a mould allergy, we agreed with a staff member that we wouldn’t check in and left the hotel immediately. We were told that to receive a refund, we simply needed to contact Booking.com and that the hotel would confirm our situation. However, Booking.com informed us that they cannot process a refund because the hotel has not confirmed what happened, despite what we were told. On top of that, the hotel keeps saying they contacted Booking.com and are handling the issue, but from our experience nothing has actually been resolved, which feels very misleading. Do not stay at this hotel under any circumstances. It can ruin your trip with its unhygienic conditions, poor communication, and lack of responsibility.

During a heat wave, had only scalding water in the shower and the room AC that we were supposed to have did not work and had likely never been maintained. Location is great, but manager would never talk to us about the issues we had. The staff on site was nice and tried to be helpful, but manager could not be contacted and did not respond to messages.

Absolute disgusting.... Literally one of the worse places ive stayed and such an amazing location, Serves me right staying at a low budget place, for work. Let's get in to it . hopefully this gets a response from the main company who I have emailed and still nothing. 3 weeks later. So as said locations right near Marble Arch/ Oxford rd, and Hyde park , great, Check in .. get a PIN code , didn't get it so had to msg the whatsapp they gave me, Room single room. with own shower and toilet, this is where the issue is. Room super hot, radiator always on, so just hot hot, big bay window opens but closes wont stay open to let fresh air in, blind used for black out crap.. lights right outside the window, so need eye mask and ear buds, kettle , no sugar, no coffee , no tea. nothing also no cup for tea or coffee, just a small water cup used to leave the window open at night, . shower freezing in morning then to hot, toilet if you a big guy no chance, literally u wont fit on the toilet, due to space. tv fair play u can put your you tube on. internet awful, floors creek so u can hear and be be heard by everyone. now the best wow, worse bed ever pics to follow, slept on the flor with mattress, first night bed was broken, fixed next day with wood put over the top, no sorry no nothing, you will look at the pics and thing he going top far, but no im not. I travel a lot and first time had to pick the bottom of there bed up and put against the wall and sleep how I did. what ever you do do not say here, spend the extra.......

I paid €285 for two nights for a superior single room. I was supposed to get a room with attached bathroom but I was totally scammed by this hotel. I got a room with only attached shower room and the toilet was across the corridor accessible to everyone else. They didn’t not even have hot water in the shower or toilet. It was -1 in London and I had to manage everything with freezing cold water. There was no reception, no management, nothing. I placed several complaints on calls, emails and WhatsApp but no response at all. I was told my room will be changed the next day. That too never happened. I asked them to refund me my money so that I can change my hotel but the kept refusing that too. My room was on third floor and there was no lift, stairs were strangely narrow. I had to move my luggage all by myself to and from the third floor. My entire experience in this hotel was a total nightmare. Please don’t make the mistake of booking this hotel. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
