About Mentone Hotel

Travellers after a straightforward, well-placed stay rather than a fuss of extras will get on well with the Mentone Hotel. Set within a row of townhouses on Cartwright Gardens in Bloomsbury, it's a 43-room hotel that suits those wanting easy access to central London without paying West End prices.

Rooms are modern in style, and rates include breakfast and free Wi-Fi, which helps keep costs predictable for the trip. Guests also have use of the nearby tennis courts, an unusual touch for a hotel of this size. Free on-site parking is available too, a genuine plus for anyone driving into the city rather than arriving by train or tube.

There's no restaurant on site, but pubs, bars and eateries are all close by in Bloomsbury, along with plenty of entertainment options. The area's transport links make it straightforward to reach the rest of London, and the garden square setting gives the street itself a quieter, more residential feel than much of the surrounding city.

The service at Mentone Hotel is excellent. My mom and I stayed for one night before flying home from Heathrow the next morning. We chose the hotel for its proximity to Kings Cross, where we planned to take the Piccadilly line directly to the airport. However, the day before we were to leave, a planned tube strike was announced for our travel day. The hotel manager (I'm sorry we didn't get your name!) was super helpful and investigated our transportation options for us and ultimately found and prebooked a taxi for us, which saved us a load of stress. He also negotiated a fair price for the ride. On top of that, he insisted we take a prepared breakfast in the morning, which I had requested in advance but then decided the hotel didn't need to bother. Still, as we left at 6am to get in our taxi, another hotel desk manager handed us our breakfast of sandwiches and pastries. Our room, #11, was comfortable and overlooked the park across the street. Only downside was that it was on the top floor, and the last staircase was quite narrow and winding, and we had to lug our suitcases up there since there's no elevator, but we knew that in advance. Highly recommend this hotel.

I had a wonderful stay at the Mentone Hotel in London. It's a charming boutique hotel with a welcoming atmosphere and a great location, making it easy to explore the city and access public transport. The room was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully decorated, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The breakfast was very good, with plenty of options to choose from, and the staff were friendly, professional, and always happy to help throughout my stay. Overall, it was an excellent experience. I would highly recommend the Mentone Hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, and well-located boutique hotel in London. I would definitely stay here again.

Comfortable hotel close to main stations and underground stations and easily walkable to Central London attractions. Newly renovated room was comfortable and clean with modern shower room. Inclusive breakfast if booked direct was an added bonus. Some of the stairs are narrow due to age of building so bear that in mind if booking and accessibility is Important, if not would recommend

I think this is a very good hotel for a stay in London. The location is excellent, close to the train station, but there are also many good restaurants, pubs, and shops nearby. The district also seems safe, and there's plenty to do. The staff was very helpful and polite. There was a wide selection of food at breakfast. One day we had to leave earlier than breakfast was served, and the staff prepared takeaway food for us! We had a room for four people – it's small but manageable, very clean, and the staff cleaned it daily. I highly recommend it.
