About Native Hyde Park

Paddington and Hyde Park sit within easy reach of Native Hyde Park, a 63-room hotel on Sussex Gardens in central London. The area is well served by transport links and dotted with pubs, restaurants and eateries, making it a practical base for exploring the city on foot or by train.

Rooms here are generously sized, with comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms and kitchenettes equipped for guests who want to prepare their own food or simply keep drinks on hand. Family rooms and accessible rooms are available, and a lift serves all floors. That said, some rooms show signs of wear, so it is worth keeping expectations realistic on the finish and upkeep rather than the space itself.

Staff are consistently described as friendly and ready to help, which counts for a lot given the hotel's steady flow of visitors drawn by its position near Paddington Station and Hyde Park. With entertainment, bars and restaurants all close by, it works well as a straightforward, well-located stay in the city.

One bed apartment is great if you want somewhere to stay that's comfier than a hotel room. You can definitely relax in the living room when you've had a busy day. Very close to Paddington station so really convenient to get to, and Hyde Park is almost on the door step. Kitchen had all the basic stuff you'd want, and a water jug for in the fridge which was great given the hot weather. Our apartment was mostly north facing, on the fourth floor, a bit warm in the heat wave but manageable.

Check-in was easy. They provide a code for the hotel door that is also used for your room door. Everything is communicated through Whatsapp which makes life easy. Good response time to queries. Less one star because rooms are not air-conditioned which makes it less comfy in summer. There was a fan in the bedroom but it was connected to the wall so could not be unplugged. Open windows at night for fresh air but sun rises at 530am in summer and if the windows shades are down, any breeze causes the blinds to swing up and clatter. PRO TIP: No remote control for the fan - but if you download the Dyson app, you can control it. Otherwise it might be stuck on whatever the previous occupants set it at, which in my case was HIGH and noisy...

Pros: Walking distance to lots of eateries, amenities, galleries and museums Furnishings are stylish and lobby particularly so High quality bedding and towels Staff change on Friday was welcomed - much nicer and more helpful Cons: Arrival was unprofessional; waited fifteen minutes for it to be confirmed that our room was not in fact ready, even though we’d been messaged to confirm it would be Taken to a drab little room to store our luggage - no porter to do this for us Moved to a different apartment between storing our luggage and accessing our room later in the day Apartment wasn’t clean, particularly the bathroom which felt grubby with yellow staining all around the toilet Hand prints on bedroom wall and questionable liquid drips on bed frame (dread to think) Lots of road noise Lots of noise from the apartment above (we were situated in the lower ground floor, apartment LG4) Very basic cooking amenities available; no corkscrew so had to ask for this separately Bathroom extractor fan got inexplicably louder as time went on

Had a fantastic 3-night stay at Native Hyde Park. Even though parts of the room seemed dated e.g chipped sink/tub, scratches and dents in some furniture etc., the room was well maintained and spotless. Our room was facing the front of the building so we had a great view, though it did mean it was noisy especially in the evenings. Nothing some earplugs couldn't fix. Fantastic location, was very easy to get around to places of interest. Would love to stay here again in the future!
