About Newham Hotel
Newham Hotel occupies a straightforward, functional building on Romford Road in East London, the kind of place built for practical stays rather than grand impressions. Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, drinks available in-room, and family rooms for those travelling with children, alongside free WiFi throughout.
There's a restaurant on site for meals without having to venture out, plus free on-site parking for those arriving by car. The surrounding area has plenty more choice too, with pubs, bars and other restaurants all nearby. That said, some rooms have been found to be poorly kept, with a musty smell reported in places, so it's worth setting expectations accordingly.
What keeps people coming back is the combination of friendly, helpful staff and prices that undercut much of the competition. The location near Stratford and the Olympic Park makes it a sensible base for exploring East London without paying premium rates.

I stayed at Newham Hotel (6–7 September 2025) and this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Room: Bathroom door rotten and wouldn’t lock, frame damaged Shower holder broken and held together with hair bands (a safety risk) Shower tray sloped the wrong way, water pooled on the floor, temperature swung hot–cold Filthy, damp carpet and rusted radiator Mattress collapsed completely to the bed base – impossible to sleep comfortably Cigarette burns and mould on window sills, window wouldn’t stay open Cleanliness & Maintenance: Mould visible around windows and in communal areas Carpet and walls stained and dirty Furniture and fittings falling apart Breakfast: Breakfast advertised 7–9am, but by 8:30am all bacon and sausages had run out Staff admitted no more was available – completely unacceptable Communal Areas: Missing radiators, exposed pipes, damp and mould on walls/ceilings Strong smell of cannabis throughout corridors I raised issues with staff during my stay, but nothing was fixed. The property is unsafe, unhygienic, and completely misrepresented online. ⚠️ Avoid this hotel – it is not fit for purpose and should not be advertised until basic safety, hygiene, and maintenance standards are met.

I spent three different nights in the hotel and the service and reception was okay but the facility needs improvement. I wasn't overtly satisfied with my toilet facilities. To me the toilet is an important aspect of hospitality.

I have a family member here with her 2 little boys due to personal circumstances. Whoever decided to put people in here to live should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. This place should be condemned. It's not fit for people to live in. There are RATS in the place. 2 were caught in traps in my family members' bathroom. Absolutely disgusting!! Shame on the council that put people in here. People are living here for varying unfortunate circumstances and are in a filthy disgusting "hotel" with vermin running around. The reason there's 1 star is because I'm unable to proceed with 0 stars. And YES! that's 2 dead rats in the pictures !!!
