About Royal Eagle Hotel
Breakfast and a proper bar are part of the daily routine at the Royal Eagle Hotel, a 119-room property on Craven Road near Paddington Station in central London. Beyond the restaurant and bar, the hotel has an indoor swimming pool, a gym, and a spa and sauna, along with a garden for a quieter moment away from the street.
Rooms come with air conditioning, drinks available on request, and free WiFi, and staff are on hand throughout the day via concierge and porter services, with valet parking and luggage storage for anyone arriving with a lot of bags. Some rooms are compact and furnished in a more traditional style than a newly built hotel, so this suits guests who prioritise location and service over sleek modern design.
The position near Paddington makes it easy to reach Hyde Park on foot, and there are pubs, restaurants and other eateries nearby for evenings out. Childcare can be arranged for families, and the hotel also hosts weddings, making it a practical base for both leisure stays and larger occasions.
What guests say
This was genuinely one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. If zero stars were an option, that’s what I’d give it. The staff were consistently rude, dismissive and completely unwilling to help with even the most basic issues. Every concern we raised was met with indifference or outright refusal to do anything. Customer service was non existent. The room was unbearably hot, feeling more like a desert than a hotel room, making it almost impossible to get a proper night’s sleep. The cleanliness was also unacceptable, with hairs in the room and an overall lack of hygiene. Even the towels were stored in what appeared to be a shed, which did nothing to inspire confidence. I genuinely cannot understand how this hotel has such a high rating because it was nothing like the experience we had. No amount of money would make me stay here again. Save yourself the disappointment and book somewhere else.

The room with 3 single beds was tiny. No space to open 3 small luggages. Had to remain closed or on the floor. It was summer, 32° and there is no AC. They provided two fans. The location is great, near paddington station. We did not get their breakfast. The shower was broken but they fixed it in two hours. View from the 5th floor.

This was our second time staying at this hotel, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. From the moment we checked in, everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. It’s a lovely city hotel in an excellent location—you really couldn’t ask for a better base to explore the city. The rooms are a bit on the small side, but they’re comfortable, clean, well-maintained, and have everything you need. We were very happy with our previous stay, and this visit confirmed that we made the right choice by coming back. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would be happy to stay here again.

The room was fine for our stay, but due to very warm days in London, the hotel did not allow us to fully open the balcony doors in order to get more air into the room. Only a small opening was allowed. The room got pretty hot and did not have AC. They provided some fans but that didn’t help much. The vent in the bathroom did not work, so it got pretty steamy when we took a shower. Very expensive breakfast.
