About Shakespeare Hotel

A hearty breakfast with plenty of choice is one of the highlights at the Shakespeare Hotel, a 50-room property on Norfolk Square in central London. There's also a bar on site for a drink at the end of the day, along with drinks available in the room, making it easy to settle in without venturing far.

Rooms are straightforward and clean, looked after by staff who are consistently friendly and helpful. Some rooms are on the smaller and more dated side, and those near the underground can pick up a bit of noise, so it's worth bearing in mind if you're a light sleeper. Facilities extend to free WiFi, air conditioning, a garden, luggage storage, laundry service, and business and meeting rooms for those combining work with their stay.

The location is a real strength, with Paddington Station and Hyde Park both close by, and free on-site parking is available for anyone driving in. Pubs, restaurants and other eateries sit nearby too, along with entertainment options, making Norfolk Square a practical base for exploring London.

Excellent location near Paddington train and subway station. The staff was very kind and helpful! Very nice buffet breakfast between 07:30 an 09:30 am. Highly recommended for a budget hotel! An excellent choice for families!

Night staff were really kind and welcoming I checked in late at night and they assured me I was ok to check out at 12 so I could get some rest. However morning staff decided to ring the loud phone in the tiny room at 5 to 11 and wake me up. I work nights so really unhappy to be woken up early and very loud in this hotel this morning anyway. It is annoying when hotels ring you prior to checkout, guests like to not be disturbed. If it was 10 mins after check out time fair enough. Needs to be better communication amongst staff also the maid knocked half an hour before 12 even though it said do not disturb on the door. Wouldnt stay again due to disturbed sleep

Great location, clean and very presentable from the outside. On the downside there is no lift there and rooms (at least mine) are very small. Good if you need bed and shower for a night, but not if you are planning longer stay in London.

Please don't stay here. I had the misery of enduring 4 nights here. There is no elevator. When I arrived I was told I was on the fourth floor. I asked for help with my suitcase and was told nobody could help me meaning I had to carry 25kg of luggage up four flights of uneven, narrow stairs at midnight after travelling for 15 hours. The room itself, the floor boards were uneven, it was extremely outdated, the walls were dirty. I could barely fit in the shower (im not a big person). The grout in the bathroom was mouldy. The shower was awful anyway, either freezing cold or boiling hot and the arm that holds the shower head was swinging. There were tea and coffee supplies yes but you can't use the tap water here as its not safe to consume. I felt as though I was sleeping in a coffin the room was so small which wasn't great because I stayed during a red weather alert heatwave, so no water and in a box!! I advised the receptionist that I would need to check out early in the morning to head to the airport and was told to leave the key somewhere safe??? I didn't even bother accessing the breakfast the rest of the hotel is shocking so wasn't going to put myself through that. In addition to this, whilst I was in my room with a do not disturb sign out, they had sent people to my room to look at the floors, I had to send them away because not only is the room so small that with my luggage they wouldn't have been able to see the floors but also because I was trying to sleep ahead of catching a flight and didn't want to be disturbed!!
