About South Place Hotel

A restaurant and bar with a genuine following set the tone at South Place Hotel, on South Place in London's financial district. Breakfast is served alongside room service and drinks brought straight to the room, and the on-site dining has earned particular praise, making it as much a draw for the food as for the beds upstairs. Do keep an eye on the bill, though, as some extra charges have caught guests out.

The 80 rooms are spacious and comfortable, with well-equipped en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and family and accessible options among them. Beyond the restaurant and bar, the hotel runs to a gym, spa and sauna, a garden with outdoor seating, meeting rooms, VIP facilities and a dedicated wedding venue, all backed up by concierge, valet parking, laundry and luggage storage. Staff are consistently described as attentive and friendly.

Its position near Liverpool Street Station makes it a practical base for both business and sightseeing, with pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby for evenings out. Pets are welcome, and childcare can be arranged, rounding out a hotel built as much for comfort as for convenience.

Loved our 2 night stay in this hotel. Great location, It's right beside Liverpool St station and Moorgate station so if you're flying into Heathrow, you can get the Elizabeth line straight to the hotel. Staff are all excellent, room and bathroom is beautiful and really well equipped with high end equipment. Our package included a la carte breakfast which was amazing. We also had dinner in the casual restaurant Bluebird City which all 4 of us loved. The hotel also has a Michelin star restaurant The Angler. This hotel delivers everything you'd expect from a 5 star establishment. Just book it you won't be disappointed.

The staff is what makes this hotel very special as they are truly a highly dedicated team all over their property. The location is perfect minute from the tube station. Host at the spa made sure to go above and beyond. Her service was absolutely phenomenal and she was the sweetest. I gladly appreciated everything she did for me while I was there. The front desk staff was very welcoming and helpful when it came time to assisting me. The fantastic Lobby Bar, the cocktail the waiter served us was amazing.

The Ortus Club

South Place Hotel is a standout choice for a B2B agency like ours at Ortus, offering a bold, high-energy aesthetic in the Kuryakin Room that immediately set a professional tone. The location in the heart of the City served as a strategic asset, where proximity to transport hubs significantly boosted guest retention and allowed for meaningful networking well into the evening. This was further complemented by an impressively agile kitchen that handled last-minute dietary changes with ease and a service team that was remarkably punctual with timing. To further refine the experience for high-level executive groups, we would recommend a few operational adjustments: - While the large round table was excellent for inclusive dialogue, the room’s footprint felt slightly tight for the initial "welcome drink" phase, suggesting that utilizing the adjacent members' club for arrivals would offer a more fluid start. - We found the planning phase required more proactive chasing than usual, and we noted some minor inconsistencies in service flow on the night, such as the overpouring of wine. Ultimately, these points were balanced by the venue's overall value and thoughtful technical perks, like the complimentary audio support. The on-site execution and bonus access to the members' lounge make South Place Hotel a highly competitive choice for our London portfolio. It successfully balances logistical precision with a sophisticated "after-hours" vibe, and we look forward to exploring future collaborations.

This hotel is listed as 5-star, but our 1-night stay didn’t really feel like it. The staff were fine, and the rooms are beautiful, despite the peeling wood at the bottom of the doors and drawers. The biggest issue was the AC. We arrived after midnight, and the room was absolutely freezing — as cold as outside. The AC was set to 15.5°C, so we turned it up to the highest possible temp, 27.5°C expecting it to get warmer… but it didn’t. It just kept blowing cold air. There was no way to change it from AC to heating mode. We called reception and they offered a small Dyson heater quite quickly, which made us feel like they probably expected this. The problem was, the AC was still blowing cold air into the room at the same time. We had turned it off before the staff member even arrived, but it continued running and blowing cold air for a long time after. So we had this tiny heater trying to warm the room while cold air was actively being pumped in. It made no sense. There was no option to switch the system to an actual heating mode — you could only increase the temperature of the aircon, which still blew cold. In the end, we were moved to a smaller room, which was half the size of the room he paid for, which isn’t very fair. The system there also didn’t produce heat, but at least when we turned it off, it actually turned off, which made it more bearable. For a 5-star hotel in London in winter, not having a working heating system — or even a proper heating setting — is pretty surprising. Even travelodge or premier inn have heating u can regulate… On top of that, there were moths in the room. One flew out of the wardrobe when I opened it for a robe, and they were on the walls. The robes themselves felt have never seen fabric softener in their lives. They were crunchy and FILLED the room with dust. Overall, it looked nice, but not quite the five-star experience we expected. My boyfriend booked it as a valentines suprise, and all this faffing interrupted the valentines romance a bit.
