About Tavistock Hotel
The British Museum is a short walk from Tavistock Square, and Bloomsbury's mix of pubs, restaurants and eateries fills the streets around it, making the Tavistock Hotel a practical base for exploring central London on foot. Entertainment venues are also within easy reach, so evenings out don't require a long journey back.
The hotel itself has 395 rooms, including family options, all with en-suite bathrooms and drinks available in-room. Rooms are kept clean and comfortable, though some don't have air conditioning, which is worth bearing in mind during warmer months. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, adding to the ease of staying somewhere this central.
A restaurant and bar operate on site, and breakfast draws particular praise for its wide buffet selection, a solid start before heading out to Bloomsbury's museums, shops and eateries. For anyone wanting to be near the city's major sights without sacrificing on-site facilities, this is a straightforward, well-located choice.

What guests say
Great hotel and room was clean. Staff were nice and allowed us to leave our bags securely stowed in the morning of our check in day. Ideally situated between a couple of underground stations but not too close as to deal with noise/foot traffic. Upgraded to a king sized room with park view, as my partner needed a walk in shower, that was a lovely touch. The bed was massive and really comfy, pillows a bit soft for my liking but not overly. Was there during a heat wave and no air con but a good sized fan was already in the room and kept us cool. A fridge to keep drink cold would have been great but bar staff happily gave us pints of ice whenever asked. Overall a very nice hotel and plenty of restaurants/bars/shops nearby so would stay again.

Staying here at the moment for 4 nights. Recommended by a friend who comes from Northern Ireland regularly. First time and we love it already. Stylish and with very friendly staff who are very welcoming. Fantastic location in London close to Tottenham Court Road, Soho and Oxford Street with great bus and tube connections. Spotless room overlooking Tavistock Sq gardens so a lovely view for us. A fan was provided in the room which was great as often in the warmer weather you have to request in many hotels in London. Great room service and lovely bar and restaurant. Can't fault it so far and it's only our second day but it's already surpassed our expectations. We'll definitely be back!

I stayed at the Tavistock Hotel for a few nights and had a pleasant experience overall. Check-in was straightforward, and the staff were polite and helpful when I had a question about transport links. The room was simple but clean, with a comfortable bed and a decent amount of space for central London. Breakfast was busy but well organised, with plenty of options. it’s good value and very convenient for getting around the city.

This hotel is tired. Worn out. The carpets are tired, the lifts are tired, the beds are tired, even the bathrooms, that appear to have had a shower upgrade are tired. The art deco motif that is used throughout becomes a pastiche of itself. The hotel needs a full refurbishment. Unfortunately I had the displeasure of staying in the hotel during the summer and the temperature in the room was 32° centigrade, with no air-con and a window that opens about 1 inch. While the staff are very friendly and approachable and helpful, they couldn't do anything about the limitations of the room. The room is basic. No ironing board or iron, no mini fridge, no complimentary water despite the atrocious heat in the rooms. Not a cheap hotel, and yet, very popular. The only reason I've given this place two stars and not one, is because of the staff. Polite, approachable, professional and as helpful as they can be.
