About The Craven Hotel
Free on-site parking is the standout feature at The Craven Hotel, a genuine rarity for a property this close to central London. Set on Craven Terrace, it puts Paddington station and Hyde Park within easy reach, making it a practical base for visitors who want to explore the capital without worrying about congestion charges or expensive car parks.
The hotel has 39 rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and in-room drinks, and there's a lift for easier access to upper floors. Breakfast is served on site, and there's a restaurant and bar for guests who'd rather not venture out in the evening, along with a small garden. Free WiFi, laundry service, luggage storage and concierge assistance cover the practical side of a stay, and meeting rooms are available for those combining business with a visit. Pets are welcome, too.
This is a budget-oriented hotel rather than a polished one, and it's worth knowing that some rooms show their age and staff responsiveness has been inconsistent according to past guests. What it does offer is a low-cost, well-placed option for getting around London, with pubs, restaurants and other eateries nearby for evenings out and Hyde Park close enough for a morning walk.

What guests say
My husband booked this hotel for my daughter and me because it was cheap and we only needed somewhere for one night. Thank goodness it was only one night—I honestly couldn’t have stayed any longer. Before arriving, I decided to ignore some of the dreadful reviews and give the place a fair chance. After all, there were a few positive reviews mixed in. Unfortunately, I quickly realised the negative ones were much closer to the mark. Describing this as a hotel feels a little generous. It was more like a very tired hostel that had long since given up trying. The bathroom was dirty, the shower plug was clogged with hair, and the curtains were hanging off the rail and didn’t even close properly. There were squashed insects still decorating the walls, the carpet looked older than some of the guests and didn’t even fit the floor correctly, and scuff marks seemed to be part of the décor. The one positive? The bed wasn’t actually too bad. That said, I still felt compelled to carry out a bedbug inspection before climbing in. Reception wasn’t much better. The atmosphere was so unsettling that I half expected Norman Bates to appear from the back office at any moment. Overall, this was not a pleasant stay and certainly not somewhere I would choose to return to. The low price may look tempting, but in this case you really do get what you pay for. Needless to say, next time I’ll be booking the hotel myself.

The rooms are tiny, the bathrooms are the smallest I've ever seen. The hotel isnt the cleanest. But I'd be lying if i said that it wasn't exactly what you should expect for the price in such a convienent part of London. The staff were lovely and the bed linens were clearly freshly cleaned. What more do you want for the price.

Worst hotel. Too dirty, bed was uncomfortable. No AC. No fan. Bathroom shower broken, drainage blocked. Strong gutter smell. Awfully dirty and gross. Never ever try to book. I wish I could change the hotel.

I am someone who reads reviews thoroughly before booking a hotel to ensure that I have a good experience. I read many reviews, and somehow missed how terrible the Craven Hotel is according to others' reviews. Unfortunately, I learned myself the hard way how disgusting the Craven Hotel is in person. When checking in, the only pictures that are remotely accurate (not even 100% accurate) is the picture of the lobby. The rooms are not the rooms they show in the pictures... complete scam. When getting up to my room, the hallways and room were very small, and I could barely fit my luggage through. Upon entering my room, the small bed took up the entire space of the room, and I couldn't even fully open my suitcase while it was on the floor because the room was so tiny. The pillows and sheets were covered in stains. There were dirty contacts on the side table. Stains on the walls, and you could tell the room was barely ever cleaned. The shower was literally like 4 sq. ft area with absolutely no room to move, and the water was either scorching hot or iced cold, but the temperature would not stay consistent. I had to jump out of the shower while soaking wet into the tiny bathroom to avoid burning myself when the temperature of the water would change every other minute. Also, the shower and the bathroom were very dirty, and you could tell they are barely cleaned. The sink would not drain either. The second I exited the shower and cleaned up, I looked into booking a different hotel. I booked the Bayswater Inn, which is very close to the Craven. My experience at the Craven all happened within a one hour window, until I booked at the BaysWater Inn, checked out of my three day stay an hour into it, and fled the Craven running. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT BOOKING THE CRAVEN HOTEL. I have yet to receive a refund, and I highly doubt I will. To be honest, I am at peace with that because I would rather lose the money I spent than stay for a minute longer inside of the disgusting Craven Hotel. The only regret that I have is not taking the time to take pictures to post with this review, but I assure you that my experience is extremely accurate to what you will experience if you book at The Craven Hotel.
