Friendly people who are working there, free and good wi-fi, good location, parking was a huge plus, working radiators if it's cold, opening windows for fresh air, hair dryer, tea, coffe was provided, good shower, shampoo and shower gel were given, TV works fine, good lights in the room and room itself is OK. What needs improvement? Hotel doesn't provide breakfast. So I was expecting a fridge. But there is No fridge in the room and I still don't know is there any common area for guests to use microwave or fridge, we didn't get any info about that and we didn't ask after. Cleanliness. Although bed sheets and towels were clean and fresh, the room in general was really dusty. Dusts floating in the air, carpet wasn't clean, dusts on glasses, dirty kettle's handle, curtain and wall with some marks. Anyway the dust I think is the main issue. And for a couple just 1 key of the room and 1 key of the main entrance was provided.

Review of Wanstead Hotel – Extremely Disappointing Experience I stayed at the Wanstead Hotel for one night and, unfortunately, I can say with confidence that this was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. To begin with the positives, the location of the hotel is good. It is situated relatively close to the Underground, making it convenient for accessing London and nearby areas. The on-site parking is also a benefit, located directly in front of the building and covered by CCTV, which gave me some reassurance about leaving my car there overnight. In addition, the exterior of the hotel looks modern and well-presented, which initially gave us a good first impression upon arrival. However, unfortunately the positives end there. When we arrived, we were met by a receptionist who struggled significantly with English, which made communication quite difficult when we tried to explain the issues we encountered. We were staying with friends and had booked two rooms. After receiving the keys and entering Room 8, we were immediately hit with a very strong smell of cigarette smoke. The smell was extremely unpleasant and made the room feel unclean. We returned to reception and politely asked if it would be possible to change rooms due to the severity of the smell. The receptionist told us that if we moved rooms, she would also have to move our friends out of their room and place them in another one. This made little sense to us, as our friends were two males who specifically needed a room with two separate beds, whereas the alternative room offered was only a double bed. When we asked why they could not remain in their room while we moved to another, we did not receive a clear explanation. The conversation became frustrating as the receptionist grew increasingly agitated while we were simply trying to explain the problem. After a long discussion that did not resolve anything, we reluctantly decided to keep the room and were given an air freshener as a solution to the cigarette smell. Unfortunately, when we looked more closely at the room, the condition was extremely poor. One of the windows appeared to have been partially melted or damaged by fire, which was quite concerning. The bedding had visible stains, and the carpet looked as though it had not been vacuumed in a very long time. The bathroom was equally disappointing. The shower constantly dripped throughout the entire night, which made it difficult to sleep. Even worse, there were what appeared to be dried bogies wiped on the bathroom wall, which is completely unacceptable from a hygiene perspective. Due to how unclean the bathroom appeared, both my partner and I chose not to use the shower at all. The bed itself was extremely uncomfortable, easily the most uncomfortable bed I have slept in at a hotel. Combined with the dripping shower and overall poor condition of the room, we had a very unpleasant night. To make matters worse, after leaving the hotel my partner developed multiple bites across her body, which raises serious concerns about the cleanliness of the room and bedding. Overall, I genuinely do not understand how this hotel is allowed to continue operating in this condition. The state of the room, the hygiene concerns, and the poor handling of our complaint made this an incredibly disappointing stay. I would strongly advise anyone considering staying here to look elsewhere.

1 star! My partner and I paid £50 for one night at Wansted Hotel and left without sleeping there. The room had a strong and unpleasant odour upon arrival. The carpets smelled and showed no sign of ever having been vacuumed. The bathroom had a distinct mould-like smell. The surfaces and floor were visibly unclean. There were pubic-like hairs on the toilet seat and inside the bowl. The bed sheets and pillow cases had visible stains and appeared unwashed, with pubic-like hairs both on top of and inside the bedding. The towels were torn and worn out. When we looked for someone at reception when we came back to the hotel after heading out to request clean sheets, there was no one there. The walls were paper thin. Every sound from neighbouring rooms came through clearly with no sense of privacy. For a property located far from central London in Zone 3, £50 in 2026 is on the lower end. But regardless of price, guests are entitled to a clean room and a staffed reception. Neither was provided. If you are still considering staying here, be prepared for an unstaffed reception, rooms that do not match the listing, and the conditions described above. Calling this property a hotel is misleading. Based on what we observed, this place requires a proper inspection by the relevant authorities. We would not return and would not recommend this property to anyone.

Good shower. Beds okay. Room smelt of cannabis. Not great when bringing children in. Side lights not working. So no side lights. We had two double beds and only 1 mug for drinking. No teaspoons just a large tablespoon. I mean come on it’s not THAT difficult. 2 hangers and both sad looking.
