I had much higher expectations because of the pictures on Booking.com, especially considering the price of €350 per night on a weekend. The first thing you notice when entering the room is how worn out it is. The furniture is dusty and heavily scratched, one of the window shutters doesn’t work properly, and the shower head already has visible mold on it. Because of that, I don’t understand why the hotel requires a security deposit for potential damages. I completely understand asking for a deposit if the furniture and room are in excellent condition, but that simply wasn’t the case here. Our room didn’t even have a minibar. Also, providing only one 0.5L bottle of water for two guests is disappointing for a hotel in this price range. I asked for another bottle at reception, and I’m pretty sure it will appear on the bill. The Standard Room with a King Bed is also extremely small. There is barely enough space for luggage, although, of course, you can pay even more for a larger room. Another thing that stood out was the number of signs everywhere telling guests what they are not allowed to do or warning about penalties. It creates an unwelcoming atmosphere and makes you feel distrusted rather than welcomed. The location is excellent, and the staff were reasonably friendly, but overall I was disappointed with my stay.

This hotel was primarily chosen for its proximity to the bus station where we had a very early departure for a coach tour. It is walkable to restaurants which was a plus. Shout out to Stone & Grill restaurant awesome food. Continental breakfast was good. Complimentary tea in lobby was nice. Even though there is a coffee maker in room, Complimentary coffee in the morning would be nice. Especially when you need to travel early. Very high tech. The bed was comfortable but pillows were very thin.

The room tech is excellent if you hate getting out of bed to turn off the lights! You can control the whole space, including the blackout blinds and the 4K Apple TV, right from the tablet on your bedside table. The bathroom mirror is heated so it doesnt steam up at all when you use the rainfall shower. It's a compact 16 square metre layout but they have utilized the space remarkably well. The smart glass wall turning frosted at the touch of a button is brilliant for privacy.

The good, the bad. On the plus side this is a well appointed hotel with modern high quality details. Nice finishes, high-tech lighting and curtain management, very quiet. There is a pretty lounge area off the entry. It is centrally located to many visitor destinations and plenty of delicious food options nearby. Clearly it is one of the better hotels in this specific area close to Victoria station. The bad- we reserved a superior King room nine months in advance directly through the hotel website (not through Expedia as the staff thought) and were assigned a basement room with a bathroom the size of one bathtub. Too small to towel off for my 6’3” husband and too small to bend over the sink. Natural light came from a sliding door leading to a below ground patio with no view and little light. We’re told that had we requested a large bathroom or balcony window, they would have tried to accommodate. However, our naïveté led us to think that our early booking and eight night stay would reap a better room, not the worst in our category. We feel taken advantage of- we didn’t make special requests and therefore were not given particular consideration. We asked for an above ground king superior room as soon as we saw ours and were told they were fully booked. The staff would leave a note for the manager and that person would “see what could be done.” We didn’t hear another thing. To the hotel- for us, this was a very special return to London after 25 years. We won’t be back. We’ve had an exceptional week enjoying this grand bustling city but we’ll always think of how disappointing was our hotel.
