What diners say
🚇 Palmers Green 🍺 £4.90 Cruzcampo The Occasional Half is located close to the north circular at the southern end of Palmers Green in North London. The nearest station is Palmers Green. Built in 1995, this pub is unusual, as very few were constructed after the post-war boom of the 1950s and 60s. In recent decades, most new openings have been conversions rather than purpose-built pubs, with Wetherspoons leading the way. This is a good-sized, bright and airy one-bar pub with a modern, contemporary feel. The servery is L-shaped, with the bar area wrapping around it. On the right-hand side of the bar is a pool table and a dartboard. Opposite the corner of the servery is a raised, carpeted seating area. To the left are some comfy booths and another raised section at the back. The decor features a boarded floor with chequered tiles, bold painted walls, mixed seating, and mirrors and historical photos adorning the walls. The beer selection was well known mainstream brands and included London Pride on cask. I decided on a Cruzcampo, my pint was on point, price wise was less than a fiver. This is a wet-led pub so no food is served. I arrived at 4pm on a bright, sunny Saturday afternoon in March. The pub was fairly busy with a local crowd in attendance. The atmosphere was relaxed and laid-back, with Soccer Saturday, rugby, and horse racing showing on the many screens dotted around the walls. The service was pleasant; I was served by a lovely lady behind the ramp who was both welcoming and courteous. This was my last pub to visit in Palmers Green, N13. This North London enclave used to have thirteen pubs but now only has five. It’s a proper locals’ pub with sensibly priced pints and a penchant for sports. I enjoyed my time here — well worth a look if you’re in the area. 📅 1st March 2025 If you want to see all my pub reviews in one place, head to @londonpubmap on Instagram or Facebook. 🍻

Wonderful little pub. Knows what it is and doesn’t mess about with false graces or bad cheer. Pints of Guinness are on the money, which is grand as you’re getting plenty of value for it. Not my usual stu, sorts bar through and through but is an example of a modern refurb that should age with grandeur.

Staff were extremely rude and patronising when I walked in. I am a local in the area and pass by the pub on a daily basis I was walking home and needed the toilet so I went in and went straight to the bar and asked politely the lady there straight away said “what do you want” I expressed I just needed the toilet and also said I was happy to buy something she replied with “for what??” And then rolled her eyes. Just felt like it was an unnecessary reaction and would have more than happily accepted a simple “No,sorry”. It’s a shame because the pub itself looks like a really cute little spot.

Brilliant pub! Great selection of drinks, warm and welcoming staff - cozy little booths with thier own TVs. Clean, fresh feel. Lots of space, dart board - just the best little local around. Loads of sports screens but not at all invasive. They really know how to pour a delicious frosty guiness.
