What diners say
Great, friendly (especially dog-friendly) local pub with a terrace looking out over Wandsworth Common. Tardis-like interior, with a second bar & unusually for London, an upstairs toilet with parent & baby facilities. Staff were on it for a busy Friday when we visited, service & food both very good with vegetarian options, vegan in the party loved his burger, & there were no/low alcohol beers on tap. Welcoming, enjoyable outing, we had a great evening. Reservation recommended if you’re planning to eat. I loved the black pudding & apple Scotch egg with picalilli crumb (pictured)

The perfect start to the bank hols! Came for a cheeky pint in the sun, but got drawn in by the frozé machine and it didn't disappoint. Absolutely love the beer garden, it's everything you want from a south pub. I think you can take drinks away if you want to chill on the common, which is a nice touch. Will definitely be back!!

I never thought I'd find myself writing a review purely to praise complimentary fruity water, but here we are. The fruity water at the Althorp on Wandsworth Common is, without question, one of the most underrated highlights of the entire pub. It might sound ridiculous to anyone who hasn't experienced it, but those who have will know exactly what I mean. Every single time I visit, I head straight for the fruity water, and somehow, against all odds, it seems to get better and better with every visit. I genuinely don't know whether they've perfected the recipe, discovered some closely guarded secret, or simply put more care and attention into it than anyone else, but it's consistently outstanding. It's always beautifully chilled, crystal clear, packed with fresh fruit, and so incredibly refreshing that one glass is never enough. The balance of flavours is absolutely spot on—never overpowering, never bland, just perfectly infused to create the most refreshing drink imaginable. What really impresses me is that something so simple is treated with such care. Most places throw a few tired slices of lemon into a jug and call it a day, but not the Althorp. Every jug looks fresh, vibrant and inviting, and you can tell that real effort has gone into making sure it's always at its absolute best. It's one of those thoughtful little details that says everything about how much pride the team takes in creating a great experience for their guests. The pub itself is absolutely brilliant, with a fantastic atmosphere, welcoming staff and a great selection of food and drinks, but I'd be lying if I said the fruity water wasn't one of the main reasons I look forward to coming back. It has genuinely become part of the Althorp experience for me. Friends laugh when I mention it, but after one glass they completely understand what all the fuss is about. I honestly believe this is the gold standard of fruity water. Every visit somehow exceeds the last, which seems impossible, yet they continue to pull it off. Whoever is responsible for keeping those jugs topped up deserves recognition because they've elevated something as simple as complimentary water into a memorable part of the visit. Five stars aren't enough—the fruity water alone is worth coming back for, and I already can't wait for my next visit to see how they've managed to make it even better again.
