We’ve been going for years, it’s a very busy site during holidays and bank holidays so book early. We call this our happy place, we truly relax, the night sky is amazing, fires allowed in fire pits, we use a round BBQ with the legs cut down, we BBQ with it and then use it for the fire. The pitches are good, the shower and toilet facilities are good, kept clean and there is a small shop selling the basics. Staff are lovely and help make the experience. The location is great for all sorts of days out, funfair and amusements and beach at Dymchurch, 2 Safari parks near by, water sports and karting on the doorstep, Folkestone and Dover etc. I’d avoid Camber Sands on Bank Holidays unless you are up very early. For walkers and cyclists you have miles and miles of beautiful countryside and beaches. Dungeness is lovely, the railway from Dungeness to Hythe is a lovely experience, however do get a remortgage as it’s seriously expensive, there are a couple of popular pubs, the snack shack is worth a visit if you like seafood, they have a website. The Chinese in Lydd is very good, cash only and you have to collect, the Kebab shop in New Romney deliver. You have Sainsbury’s in New Romney and some lovely cafes and Aldi in Hythe. We also saw Morrisons doing a delivery to one family. There is an ice cream van that visits site, not every day, the prices are seriously reasonable, way less than your normal van, I have a waffle cone with whippy ice cream and it’s £2. Anyway I’ve waffled enough.

I spent a night here whilst bike packing the Canti way. It’s a very nice site with clean showers and toilets. Reception staff were extremely pleasant and helpful with local knowledge. They do a special rate for bike-packers. I found food at the George hotel in the nearby village of Lydd.

The campsite offers generously sized pitches and well-maintained toilet and shower facilities. Although there were only two showers available for men, I personally did not encounter any issues with availability during my stay. There is also a small convenience shop located on site.

Our whole experience at Herons Park Camping was exceptional. Conna and the rest of the staff were incredibly kind, friendly, welcoming and helpful. The location was very peaceful with lots of wild bird singing and fresh air. The kitchen space was clean and very helpful and the showers were nice and warm. We would highly recommend to anyone else looking for a peaceful escape.
