About The Pilot Boat
The Pilot Boat suits travellers after a grown-up seaside break rather than a family holiday, given its adults-only policy and spot close to the Cobb and Monmouth Beach in Lyme Regis. Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, drinks available in-room, and the practical extras of free WiFi and room service, backed up by 24 hour reception for whenever you come and go.
The restaurant and bar are a real focus, with a menu covering gluten-free and vegetarian options alongside favourites like scallops, fish and chips, and burgers, best enjoyed out on the sun terrace when the weather allows. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere relaxed, though a few guests have found the food on the pricier side. Breakfast is served on site, and parking is available for those arriving by car.
Beyond the hotel, the Jurassic Coast is on the doorstep for walking and fossil-hunting, with cycling routes, fishing, watersports, golf and further pubs and restaurants all nearby. It works well as a base for exploring Lyme Regis on foot, with the town's own pubs and eateries within easy reach.

Nice pub for food right by the beach, literally across the road! Food is really good and about what you would expect price wise for a pub by the beach. They serve Palmers beer/ipa that is really good and locally brewed. We had Pizza's, a cheese sandwich and crab sandwiches- all really good. Staff are great and really friendly as are all of the people in there! Didn't stay so can't comment on the rooms but the pub is lovely so I would imagine the rooms would be the same.

Had a fantastic experience at The Pilot Boat Inn in Lyme Regis. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The food was excellent – great quality and really enjoyable. One of the highlights is the terrace, which catches the sun right into the late evening, making it a perfect spot to relax with a drink and enjoy the atmosphere. We also joined the Thursday night pub quiz hosted by Cody, which was brilliant fun. Cody does a fantastic job creating a lively, entertaining atmosphere and it’s a great reason to visit midweek. Highly recommended – great food, amazing staff, a superb terrace, and one of the best pub quizzes around!

We loved our cosy room with its exposed brickwork and enormous bathroom. It was great being so close to the beach and the town centre. The food was great and the lovely woman in charge could not have been more friendly or helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel for warm, good value hospitality with lots of generous extras.

Went to The Pilot Boat for an evening meal. Absolutely wonderful food & the service was excellent. Great surroundings, both inside & out, plus a sun terrace for drinks. Food a little on the dearer side, but well worth it. Highly recommend l.

Diners like this restaurant's delicious food, especially the scallops, fish and chips, and burgers, and appreciate the wide variety of menu options, including gluten-free and vegetarian choices. They also highlight the friendly and accommodating staff, the relaxed atmosphere, and the convenient sun terrace.
Some reviews mention the food can be overpriced.
