The Royal Lion Hotel

We had three rooms. Two which were i the main hotel were great size and light. My parents double room in the annex was small and got very hot. Otherwise everything was great - the touches like the range of tea and coffee, abundent towels and quality soap and shampoo, in the rooms were welcome. The breakfast was fantastic - huge range, good servings and super environment. All the staff were friendly and helptul. The location was superb- in the centre with easy access to the beach.

This hotel is exceptional value for money. The bedroom and bathroom were quite dated but spotlessly clean with a very comfy bed and it was more than adequate in terms of functionality. Two fans were provided which were a very welcome addition in the heat. Sharon (duty manager) was incredibly welcoming and friendly (which sadly these days is a rarity!) The breakfast was delicious and plentiful with very friendly staff. We would definitely return.

What a fabulous location and hotel. We were very late arriving and the bar staff were able to check us in, show me where the car park was and even gave us a recommendation for a great place to have dinner close by as the kitchen was closed at 9pm. The staff we amazing and helpful and the room was outstanding. Had everything we needed, looked fabulous and was extremely comfortable. The included breakfast the next morning was perhaps some of the best eggs florentine I’ve ever had! It didn’t end there with fabulous advice about how to get to our next destination and a really friendly chat before we took off again. Lyme Regis is a fabulous spot and Royal Lion was a great place to stay for us

My recent stay at The Royal Lion Hotel was genuinely memorable, thanks in large part to the fantastic team who bring the place to life. The hotel itself has that perfect blend of historic charm and relaxed comfort, but it’s the people who make it stand out. Kent was an absolute star from the moment I arrived. He has that rare mix of professionalism and easygoing warmth that immediately puts you at ease. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and he handled everything with a calm confidence that really sets the tone for the whole place. Dawn brought such a friendly, welcoming energy every time I saw her. She has a natural way of making guests feel looked after, and her attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed. Whether it was a quick question or a small request, she handled it with genuine care. Abby was equally brilliant — upbeat, attentive, and always ready with a smile. She added a lovely personal touch to the stay, and it’s clear she takes pride in making sure guests have a great experience. Between the character of the building, the comfort of the rooms, and the standout service from Kent, Dawn, and Abby, The Royal Lion Hotel is the kind of place you look forward to returning to. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area.
