About Highcliffe House

Highcliffe House is an adults-only bed and breakfast set in an acre of garden and woodland, with private parking and views over both Lynton and Lynmouth to the sea beyond. The house has picked up Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Best of the Best recognition in multiple years, built largely on its breakfasts and its setting.

Rooms are fitted with flat-screen smart televisions, USB charging points and tea and coffee making facilities, and guests have use of a shared lounge, on-site bar and terrace looking out over the wooded grounds. The house sits within short walking distance of both villages, with direct access to routes into the Valley of the Rocks and down to Watersmeet.

The adults-only policy and quiet woodland setting make Highcliffe House a favoured choice for couples and walkers looking for a boutique stay rather than a larger hotel, with free on-site parking and wifi throughout.

Absolutely excellent in every way. My husband and I stayed in the Kipscombe suite, huge comfy bed, stunning views, quiet (despite being fully booked). Robert and Richard warmly welcomed us, and throughout our stay, their attention to detail was second to none. The breakfasts were sumptuous and plentiful, the coffee excellent and our 6pm G&T (many to choose from) sat by the window, was the perfect start before we ventured down the hill to one of the excellent restaurants, recommended by Robert. Quite honestly, two nights is not long enough. We are already planning our a next stay (3 or 4 nights next time). Robert and Richard are certainly in the right industry, they do it to perfection. Oh, and we had some lovely chats with other guests, who were all lovely too. 5* all round.

Magnificent accommodation in a beautiful town. We stayed for 2 nights as a part of a 6 week trip independent trip through the UK. We did our own rating of each place we stayed. This was one of a few which scored an A+. Richard and Robert are gracious hosts who have created a very special experience here. Each aspect of your stay is considered, concise and perfect. This is an experience not to be missed.

Highcliffe House is by far one of our favourite places we have stayed and 100% the best value for money, with immaculate rooms finished with perfect little touches (the shortbread was delicious) and beautiful views, we stayed in ‘Myrtleberry’ and had our own balcony. Peaceful location to relax and read a book! Richard and Rob were fantastic hosts from the moment we parked up and even before, making us aware of a road closure and advising us a different way in. The breakfast was superb with locally sourced foods. We are gutted we only got to stay for one night, we could’ve stayed alot longer! Thank you for our wonderful stay! We will be telling everyone about Highcliffe House!

A elegant privately owned B&B run by Robert and Richard that commands a majestic view of Bristol Channel (we stayed in the Summer House). I am a somewhat picky person and Robert and Richard, who obviously cannot tolerate a speck of dust, are pickier than I am. They attend to the most minute details: from their choice of artworks (from 100+ countries they have been to), food ingredients (everything from local farms), teabags (SD Bells & Co.), bath gel (Prija), to the most comfortable mattress and pillows on an antique solid wood bed. Robert and Richard put brand name hotels – the like of Rosewood, Four Seasons and Mandarin Oriental – to shame. And, the craziest of all, they charge £150 per night, delicious breakfast and free parking included. Absolute craziness.
