About Maenllwyd Guest House

Maenllwyd Guest House occupies a former Manse dating from around 1800 in the historic market town of Machynlleth, and has been run as a family guest house by the same family since 1980. Hosts Gareth and Jane offer seven en-suite bedrooms, including double rooms with garden views and twin rooms, all on the first floor of the house.

Rooms come with free wifi, Freeview television, daily housekeeping and tea and coffee facilities, and the house has a large garden and sunny decking area for guests to use, along with off-road parking and bike storage. Breakfast is served each morning and is a particular focus of the guest house's reputation, described by returning visitors as hearty and well cooked.

Maenllwyd suits couples and solo travellers wanting a straightforward, well-run B&B within walking distance of the clock tower, market and MOMA, without the price of a full hotel stay.

Had a lovely stay at Maenllwyd after a long cold day of travelling. Was met by the host. Good parking facilities at the rear, nice view from the room with a great and most welcome shower. A very nice breakfast which was included in the very reasonable room price along with a peaceful nights sleep meant this would definitely recommended

Just had a long weekend (24th - 27th October 2025) staying at Maenllwyd Guest House. We can't fault it. A very comfortable room and perfectly presented en suite. Parking at the rear is spacious. We had a motorbike and trailer with us and Lee was able to park both in the garage, at the back. Ticked a very large box ! Gareth's breakfasts were excellent 👌 Over 3 mornings we sampled the full Welsh, scrambled eggs and the beans on toast. Delicious coffee. Plenty of toast. (sorry not to have an extra morning to try the omelette!😋). Radio 2 playing in the background was the brown sauce on top! ☺️ Just a lovely place to stay; homely atmosphere and very friendly hosts. We wouldn't hesitate to return and definitely recommend. Machynlleth offers excellent cafés, pubs and shops. I had time to myself while Lee had a couple of motorbike off-roading days and thoroughly enjoyed my time "mooching" 😊 Thank you 😊 Wendy & Lee Cherry Willingham, Lincoln
