A hot tub and sauna occupy the garden of Honeysuckle Cottage, a 15th-century property near Eye in Mid Suffolk. The whole place is yours alone, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms spread across ground and first floors. One bedroom has a kingsize bed; the other a zip-and-link that can be configured as two single beds. Both bathrooms include heated towel rails, and one features a roll-top bath. A wood-burning stove warms the living and dining space, which has a smart TV. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking—Aga, electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine—plus a washing machine and tumble dryer for longer stays.
The enclosed garden wraps around the rear with patio seating and furniture. The hot tub fits six, and the sauna sits alongside it. Parking is available for two cars. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; essentials like heating are covered. One dog is welcome. No smoking inside.
Quiet lanes and footpaths radiate from Stoke Ash for walking and cycling. Eye itself is nearby, as is Diss. The Suffolk Heritage Coast—Southwold, Aldeburgh and Dunwich—is accessible for a day trip. Local pubs and farm shops serve the area.

Unfortunately, this stay was a real disappointment and didn't live up to the listing. The biggest issue was the misleading information surrounding the hot tub and sauna. When booking on Airbnb the restrictions on using these facilities weren't made clear until after the booking was confirmed. Had this information been included in the listing before booking, I simply wouldn't have booked. Because the cancellation policy is non-refundable, you're effectively committed by the time you receive the full details. The hot tub and sauna are automatically switched off between 10:00 pm and 8:00 am, which completely defeats the purpose if you're booking for a romantic evening away. If you're hoping to relax in the hot tub or sauna later in the evening, you'll be disappointed. This is a significant restriction that should be made clear in the listing before guests book, not afterwards. To make matters worse, the sauna wasn't even usable because the door wouldn't stay shut, making it impossible for it to heat up and function properly. There were also several maintenance and cleanliness issues. The remote control for the fireplace was missing, so I had to contact the host for instructions on how to operate it manually. Even then, it switched itself off after a while and wouldn't turn back on. The sofa and chairs were extremely dirty, covered in stains, and the sofa even had wet patches when we arrived. The toiletries provided were also poor. The downstairs body wash dispenser was empty, and another dispenser had been watered down so much it was essentially just water. The "birthday package" was a complete scam. It cost £79, yet consisted of a cheap bottle of sparkling wine, some inexpensive artificial rose petals that looked like they came from a craft shop, and a standard box of Thornton's chocolates that can be bought in a supermarket for around £7. The total value of the items couldn't have been much more than £15, making the charge feel incredibly excessive and misleading. It certainly didn't feel like a premium celebration package and wasn't worth anywhere near what was charged. Overall, completely misleading, the cleanliness was below standard, the facilities didn't function as advertised, and the experience was poor value for money. Unfortunately, I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it to others.

We booked this cottage for a weekend. The property is well maintained and the main bedroom is lovely and spacious with an ensuite bath. The kitchen has the basics, though unlike many Airbnbs it didn’t have leftover oils or condiments for guests so bring your own. However, there were several issues that affected our stay. The main double bed was very small, so small that my partner and I ended up sleeping separately, which made no sense given the second bedroom had a larger bed. The electric fire didn’t work and had exposed wiring; after trying to get it going we gave up and left it off for safety. The cottage is advertised as dog‑friendly, but charges £30 per dog per day, which felt excessive, especially as no extra cleaning was provided during our stay. Over a week this becomes very costly compared with other dog‑friendly places and hotels we’ve used. The location is strange, good access to fields, but it’s not walkable to nearby pubs or restaurants so you’ll need to drive. It’s also close to a main road, and traffic noise is noticeable. The hot tub and sauna were nice, but not outstanding enough that we’d strongly recommend the cottage or rush to return. Overall: nice cottage and facilities, but the small main bed, safety issues with the fire, high dog fees and location noise were disappointing.
