About Halfway Bridge Inn
Halfway Bridge Inn sits, as its name suggests, roughly midway between Midhurst and Petworth in the South Downs National Park, and has been trading as a coaching inn for around 250 years.
Accommodation is arranged in the converted Cowdray Barns adjoining the main building, giving guests a quieter, more private stay than rooms directly above a working pub, while remaining close to the restaurant and bar. The kitchen has built a strong local reputation and holds an AA Rosette, drawing diners from both Midhurst and Petworth as well as overnight guests.
Its location between the two towns makes it a practical base for exploring both Cowdray's polo grounds and ruins and Petworth's antiques trade and National Trust house, without needing to choose between them.

Went there for lunchtime drinks and a bite to eat with some friends. The staff were ever so friendly, they had a great selection behind the bar. The sweetcorn and courgette fritters were beautiful, could've done with 3 instead of two. If you're a cider drinker I can recommend the elderflower & cucumber cider it's really refreshing. Huge touch it's dog friendly, will definitely put it on my list to return. I love the duck pond, absolutely brilliant

We stayed in the Shepherds Hut which was super clean and comfortable. We had evening meal which was excellent over three courses and really made a good end to our Wedding Anniversary day. All staff were polite and attentive as was the owner. Well done to all at the Halfway Bridge Inn

Lovely pub, gorgeous rooms and nice food! We stayed at this pub/ hotel while walking The Serpent Trail. Firstly the staff were very friendly and went above and beyond with helping us with planning our trail walk and providing local knowledge of the route. The rooms were small (because they are converted barns) but had gorgeous wood and tweed wool type furnishings. We enjoyed a steaming hot bath each and a really peaceful night's sleep on a super soft bed and pillows. We chose to eat there both for dinner and breakfast. Both menus had a great selection and the food quality was really good. Would definitely recommend either for a stay or to pop in for a meal.

This was possibly the worst Sunday lunch we have ever had. Firsty we were told that beef was not on the menu as it was to costly to buy the roasts, were Chicken or Pork both at £28.50, my wife's Pork was like cardboard both in appearance and taste the roast potatoes were soggy and the Yorkshire pudding was very overcooked she had a replacement meal which was not served equally poor and with no replacement vegetables not served until I had finished my below average chicken roast, not ideal. The manager offered a free glass of wine to compensate which never transpired. When we paid I was curtly told sevice charge had not been added and the glass of wine deducted, We will never return.....
