MacRury Cottage is a traditional croft built to withstand island weather, standing close enough to reach the white sand beaches of North Uist on foot. The property sleeps four across two bedrooms—a kingsize with its own shower room, and a twin—with a second bathroom on the ground floor. One well-behaved dog is welcome here, though it must stay on a lead in this sheep country.
The layout centers on a wood-burning stove in the living room, with a separate kitchen and dining area opening onto an enclosed garden. You get everything needed to cook properly: electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer and washing machine. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and firewood are all included. There is private parking for three cars and a track leading down to several miles of beach where wildflowers grow and birds are abundant.
The Outer Hebrides attract people back year after year for the clear water, shell sand and open space. South Uist, Harris and Lewis are within reach by regular ferry, making this a good base for exploring the islands rather than staying in one place.
