Lochmaddy, the port village where ferries from Skye arrive, sits on North Uist in the Outer Hebrides. The Studio is a compact self-contained property on the island, designed for two people wanting a base to explore the surrounding landscape of lochs, peat bogs and white-sand beaches. It comes with private parking for one car and sits within grounds that include a bike store and garden furniture.
Inside, a ground-floor living space combines kitchen and sitting room with wooden floors and a woodburner. A separate dining room looks out over the grounds. Upstairs, a galleried bedroom with a double bed and alternate-tread stairs (note: these require confidence and stability to use) opens onto the main space. The shower room is compact but fully equipped with heated towel rails. Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included, along with a welcome pack. Smoking is not permitted.
The Hebridean Way—a walking and cycling trail that links ancient routes across the islands—is well-signposted throughout North Uist. The island holds chambered cairns and other prehistoric sites, while the western coast draws visitors for its beaches. Berneray, Benbecula, South Uist and Eriskay are all reachable from here. An unfenced loch lies about 100 yards from the property.
