A fantastic museum that is definitely worth visiting! From the entrance, you’re welcomed by friendly staff who are happy to help and guide you. It’s very convenient that there are lockers for your belongings, as well as drinking water stations. The museum is also accessible, with ramps and facilities for visitors with reduced mobility. The museum is quite large — 3 floors with different galleries and exhibits, all well-organised by theme. There are many interesting displays with detailed descriptions, helping you dive deeper into the history of the city and beyond. There are also plenty of interactive activities, making it enjoyable for both adults and children. You can easily spend 2–3 hours here without noticing how fast time passes. And best of all — the museum is completely free to visit!

Amazing museum. I really liked how it takes you through Newcastle’s full history, with a strong focus on engineering, especially shipbuilding and innovations by Armstrong and others. Entry is free and I would highly recommend visiting if you enjoy history or you’re an engineering student; there’s plenty on ships, engines, and general science. There are lots of interactive exhibits too, including audio pieces that let you hear perspectives from different eras.

It’s interactive, family-friendly, and perfect for both adults and kids. The staff were welcoming, and entry is free. It’s well organized and not too overwhelming, so you can enjoy everything at a relaxed pace. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Newcastle!

Great FREE museum. They have two different play areas for kids under 5 year olds. They also have a little kitchen and book area in the cafe to entertain your kids while you enjoy a coffee. A lot to see, we didn't get to most so we will be back in the future. Not very busy on a Tuesday.
