About The Gibside Hotel

The Gibside Hotel is a long-established, traditional-style hotel on Front Street in Newcastle upon Tyne, the kind of solid, no-frills building that has built its reputation on hospitality rather than design flourishes. Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, and the hotel offers accessible rooms, a lift, room service and drinks brought to your door. Some rooms show their age and could do with a refresh, but the welcome from staff is consistently described as warm and good value for money.

The restaurant and bar are the real draw, with a strong local following for the Sunday roasts and bottomless brunch sharing boards. Breakfast and packed lunches are available, and there's a concierge desk, laundry service and luggage storage for guests passing through. The property also doubles as a wedding venue, complete with a bridal suite.

It's a pet-friendly base with a golf course nearby along with pubs, bars, restaurants and entertainment close at hand, making it a straightforward option for exploring Newcastle upon Tyne without needing to travel far for a night out.

Visited the Gibside yesterday for a bottomless brunch and had an excellent experience. The sharing board was great, best food option I've had on a bottomless brunch. The cocktails were made by hand, no pre-mix syrups, and were fab. In between cocktails they topped up our glasses of prosecco. The best part of the afternoon was the service from Kelly and Ashleigh, they were so friendly & genuinely wanted you to enjoy your afternoon. Will definitely return...

Amazing customer service in the bar & delicious strawberry daiquiris. We turned up at the Gibside Hotel at 9pm after a terrible meal in Newcastle for a family Birthday. Kelly in the bar was fantastic and so kind, turned the night around for us, even lighting the cake, bringing it out with the Happy Birthday song playing. Thank you 💖

Not very impressed to say the least, only came in for a pint last week and what I was given was more of an ice cream! Never had so much froth on a pint before, might as well have added a flake to it! Not to mention the outrageous prices for a drink, what a joke, they must think it’s the Dorchester Hotel!!! Reading the reviews it sounds a million miles away from the Dorchester! Bed bugs and hairs in rooms is a bit vile, one of my pals reckons he stayed there and the toilet hadn’t even been flushed with a 💩 still in it!!! Not impressed especially since it is a decent location in the centre, for out of town folk like me! Wouldn’t step foot in the place again and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else to!

Super hotel in an excellent area for town centre and train. Spotlessly clean, large open room with a fabulous view. Parking in front of the hotel but if it's full then the car park in front is cheap. Breakfast is served and very tasty. A great find for the price.
