About Best Western New Kent Hotel

Best Western New Kent Hotel suits visitors with practical priorities: a car, a university appointment, or simply a straightforward base for exploring Newcastle without fuss. Set in Jesmond, it's within reach of Newcastle University and the Great North Museum, making it a sensible choice for open days, graduations, or a few days of sightseeing.

The hotel has 32 rooms across two floors, including family rooms with en-suite bathrooms, so it works for parents travelling with children as well as solo guests or couples. Breakfast is served on site, and there's a restaurant and bar for evening meals or a drink without needing to head out. A garden offers a bit of outdoor space, and laundry service is available for longer stays.

Free on-site parking is a genuine plus given the hotel's residential setting, and the atmosphere is generally described as easy-going rather than formal. Nearby options include pubs, restaurants, golf, fishing and horse riding, along with entertainment venues, so there's enough to fill spare time beyond the main sights of the city.

We stayed here for one night and had a lovely experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, there are no lifts, but Arash Shahin was incredibly helpful—he carried our luggage to our room, provided us with a fan, and shared his knowledge about the city centre, which we really appreciated. Finally, the bar staff provided excellent service and were a great part of our stay. Thank you to everyone for making our visit so enjoyable!

Room decor was a bit tired, but clean and functional. Sound travelled from corridor and doors, but that is expected anywhere. Neighbours were not noisy after 10:00pm, so wasn't an issue. Bed was comfortable, and room was warm enough, although I had to turn the radiator down, as it was initially too hot!. Radiator valve was dificult to get at and meant moving the TV to get down behind the TV cabinet. Shower had good pressure, and the water was hot. Tea and coffee making facilities (:-) but no complimentary biscuits. (:-( 🤭 Good location, lots of restaurants in the area. Would use again. Thank you.

A lovely hotel. A friendly welcome at reception. I went down to the restaurant early and ate without booking. The food was lovely and were very adaptable to dietary needs. I was shocked at the size of my room. It had a double bed and a single in it - very spacious. The shower was very powerful. Breakfast was also very nice although chosen as it was supposed to be a buffet breakfast but it was in fact cooked to order. I wouldn't stay here again which is a shame as it is a lovely hotel but the beds were rock hard. I tried both the beds hoping maybe the single bed would be slightly softer but it wasn't. If you like an extra firm bed - go for it. Definitely not for people who prefer soft/medium mattresses.

Our unexpected visit (15 minutes notice from booking to our arrival) was a fantastic stay. From the urgent phone call we had helpful and friendly staff who were very welcoming. The room was ready for us to stay, the complementary tea and coffee was much appreciated. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant which was better than perfect. I my self didn't feel too great so only ate a small portion of my meal which the staff recognised and went out of their way to offer me other options of anything I fancied, after I declined they went as far as deducting my meal from our bill which was not expected at all. My other half thoroughly enjoyed every last bite and has suggested we return! Our room was spotless, very comfortable, clean towels, bedding and bathroom. Couldn't ask for more! Thank you so much for taking us in 🤣😄
