About The New George Hotel
The New George Hotel works well for visitors who'd rather stay somewhere small and low-key than in a large chain hotel in the thick of the city. With just eight rooms, it has the feel of a townhouse rather than a conventional hotel, and its position on Osborne Road puts guests within reach of Newcastle's attractions without the noise of a central address.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and in-room drinks, and the hotel includes a bar and restaurant on site, along with breakfast each morning. There's also a gym and a spa with sauna for guests who want to unwind, plus outdoor seating, a kitchen, laundry service and luggage storage for practical needs. Free on-site parking is a genuine plus for anyone arriving by car, which is not always a given this close to the city.
Beyond the hotel itself, the surrounding area offers pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, along with cycling and walking routes and options for fishing and watersports. It suits a straightforward, unfussy stay rather than a lavish one, and previous visitors have generally described the rooms as comfortable and relaxed rather than luxurious.

Just spent 4 days here visiting our son who's in digs at uni ...and I thought his digs were bad . .. First room on top floor hadn't been cleaned at all although message said room was ready ....luckily bar was open and bar manager (separate business apparently) very kindly sorted another room out for us which was marginally better . No running cold water in bathroom, hot water tap spun around, basin waste clogged and drained slowly.no wall bracket for shower head, clothes hooks on door both broken, window and blind both filthy, one toilet roll...and toilet made loud rumbling noise every time it was flushed. Main bedroom.,..boiling hot and couldn't control heating or open window more than an inch or two.no curtains just a holy blind,no side/table lights so either main light fully on or off,no chair just bed to sit on,left towels out when we wanted them changed ..they just took and didn't replace so had to raid the store cupboard Could go on.....hotel it certainly isn't.cheap scruffy hostel it certainly is......

When we arrived upon arrival the owner was not there and neither were any staff. We here had to rely in bar staff from the pub (who are separate business to the hotel). We then went into our room and quickly found the bathroom was quite smelly. The room was basic and also very cold. The radiator was broken so had a small electric heater instead but still did not provide much warmth. The bed was pretty comfy and for the price you pay its okay. The room also wasn't the cleanest but not Terrible.

!! Reviewing to save someone else!! We booked through Airbnb and stayed for a single night because it was unbearable to stay any longer. The room was filthy, with dirty dishes left under the sink, pillows stained orange and smelling of BO, and a stained, dirty, mattress with no mattress cover. The bathroom had a sink that was leaking from the bottom, and the linoleum floor was squishy and uneven. The biggest issue, beyond the general unhygienic state of the room, was the radiator which was turned on to the highest setting and sealed off so we couldn’t adjust it. We spent our single night restlessly awake in unbearable heat (despite it being the middle of winter) and couldn’t open the window due to a horrendous smell outside that would waft in. We tried to give the owner the benefit of the doubt and raised these issues hoping for viable solutions before we escalated it. His only offered solution was that the radiator could be turned off completely and the room would freeze. There was no acknowledgement that the room was filthy. Credit where credit is due, a handyman did come to stop the bathroom leak, but was appalled at the state of the room. After further complaints, our host offered to move us to another room but couldn’t assure us that the state of the room would be any better (the entire building was dark, dank, and dirty). After concluding that the owner would not render the accommodation liveable, we asked for a partial refund for the remaining nights of our stay. The owner became rude and tried to gaslight us, accusing us of ‘being fine’ with things that we had literally just stated we weren’t happy with, and that we were contradicting ourselves. Eventually, he relented and offered us the remaining nights refunded if we checked out. When AirBnB processed it, they said the owner would only give us one night refund, as opposed to two, because we checked out after the check out time (this was not communicated to us by the owner). It’s only due to AirBnB’s involvement that anything was sorted, and they covered the night he refused to refund after we showed them proof of what he said. We spent the remainder of our time in Newcastle at a Premier Inn (which was infinitely nicer than this accommodation).

This hotel was the worst place that me and my fiancé had ever stayed. Very worn in most areas and the hygiene level was very poor, to the point I had to go out and buy cleaning products and get on my hands and knees and clean, just to feel like we were not living dirty. The smell of the drainage was something else, the morning the worst may I recall, this needs to be escalated further as this is not right. The car park down stairs only had 3 car spaces, this was not mentioned when we booked via booking.com. The state of the car park was something else, old toilet and tiles just left laying around etc. this has been reported through booking.com but no further action has been made as of yet. Please please avoid at all costs.
