About Hampton by Hilton Newcastle

Hampton by Hilton Newcastle works best for anyone arriving without a car, since there's no parking on site but the station sits right opposite, making it a practical base for a weekend in the city or a stopover between trains. It also suits business travellers, with meeting rooms and business services on hand alongside the more usual comforts.

The 160 rooms are modern and clean, with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and comfortable beds, and family rooms and accessible rooms are available for those who need them. A restaurant, bar, and snack bar cover meals and drinks, and breakfast includes a buffet with waffles, though some cooked items can come out overdone. There's also a gym, lift access across the hotel's seven floors, laundry service, and packed lunches on request for early starts.

Once outside, the Bigg Market, shops, and Quayside are all within walking distance, and the surrounding area has plenty of pubs, restaurants, and entertainment nearby, plus golf courses for those wanting to venture a little further. Staff are consistently described as helpful, which counts for a lot when you're relying on a central hotel to get your bearings quickly.

Stayed on the top floor facing the train station. It was quiet and the room was lovely and spacious. Everything was clean and staff friendly and helpful. The older gentleman clearing up during breakfast was particularly helpful. The hotel was very clean though one of the lifts could do with a bit of TLC as you can't see what floor you are on and we had to exit to see if we were where we wanted to be. Other than that, the hotel is perfectly situated for the train station and Metro stations. We were at a Stadium of Light concert and it couldn't have been any more perfect.

The hotel is a great location to Central Station, which is the main reason I chose to stay here. Sadly, my room didn't reflect what I would expect from a Hilton. My room was located on the 2nd floor, which is where reception and the dining room is located. I could hear constant doors slamming shut, late into the night, that made the headboard and wall behind my bed shake. The shower screen wasn't water tight, which resulted in water getting all over the bathroom floor. The Aircon worked well, however it made a very annoying and loud ticking noise, so I couldn't use it often. They also provide tea and coffee in the room, but there were no spoons or stirrers, so I ended up having to use the end of my makeup brush to stir my tea! The pillows on the bed were very thick, with 4 in total. My personal preference is a flatter pillow, so I'd have valued a choice of pillow if there are 4 provided, so that you can select what you find comfortable, rather than 4 huge ones. I found sleeping on the think pillow uncomfortable and I woke with an awful headache due to my neck hurting. Sadly, I won't stay here again for work, despite the brilliant location. I'll walk to a different hotel as I'd value a more comfortable and quieter room.

I stayed for 3 nights Room I asked for a quiet room The room was fine except for the curtain hanging down from the rail, which wasn’t very attractive and made closing them difficult. I liked the fact the coat hangers were not attached to the rail in the wardrobe…. Lift The display and sounds telling you which floor didn’t work and I and others found ourselves gong up and down trying to work out where we were. You had no idea which floor you were on without getting out of the lift! I suggested that an A4 printed sign opposite the lift door would help guests, but this seemed to be out of the managers remit. Food Breakfast was poor quality although the coffee was drinkable. Cheap sliced bread, tinned oranges, curled up cheese. No muesli - just ultra-processed cereals. The worst thing for me was there were no eggs for 2 days out of the 3 (I’m vegetarian). I cant believe a hotel could run out of eggs. I booked this hotel as it was close to the station and it included breakfast, making it good value. I wouldn’t stay here again. There were too many issues and I’d rather pay more and have good quality food. I felt that for a hotel with the Hilton Name, it was very poor.

Lovely quiet room on the 7th floor with great views of the city. Nice clean bathroom with walk in shower. Breakfast was included which was good, lots of choice. Reception staff friendly. Great location, right across from the station. Would definitely return.
