About Maldron Hotel Newcastle
A breakfast selection generous enough to become the talking point of any stay is one of the first things people notice at Maldron Hotel Newcastle, on Newgate Street in the heart of the city. Beyond the morning spread, this is a modern hotel built for comfort and convenience, with rooms that are clean, well-proportioned and en-suite, air conditioned, and fitted with the practical extras business and leisure travellers both want, including drinks in room and family rooms for those travelling together.
Staff are consistently described as friendly and ready to help, and the hotel backs this up with a solid range of facilities: a restaurant and bar on site, room service, laundry service, meeting rooms for those working, and a garden with outdoor seating for a quieter moment. Luggage storage and free WiFi cover the practical side, while accessible rooms and a lift make the building easy to navigate.
The central Newcastle upon Tyne location means pubs, restaurants and entertainment are all close by, with golf also available nearby for those wanting to venture further. It is a hotel that works well as a base for exploring the city, with the basics of comfort, food and service consistently well handled.
What guests say
I've stayed here twice now during sunnycon and it's probably up there as one of the best hotels I've stayed in for the price. The beds are insanely comfortable, the Aircon in the room works incredibly well which was great especially with how hot it has been recently. The room is a great size and soundproofed well and the shower is great. There were so many nice touches too like a selection of tea types and biscuits which were a pleasant surprise. We had breakfast while there and for the price it was worth every penny. Everything seemed fresh and of good quality from the cooked selection, so many options including smoothies, salad pots and all sorts to choose from and the pastries on offer seemed a lot bigger and fresher than other hotels. Location is perfect too. 5 minute walk to st James park and right by the gate which has plenty to do and a carpark. Considering how it was priced similar if not less than others in the area, overall we were really impressed and this hotel goes miles above so many other hotel brands we've used while attending conventions.

After years of being a premier inn loyalist....I've been converted. The Maldron hotel is lovely in every respect and met my needs better than most hotels I've stayed at. I'm here for the weekend and already I'm excited to stay here again next year when Sunnycon rolls around again. The amenities and objects in the room are laid out in a meticulous and functional way that I really appreciate as an autistic person. The outside is a bit noisy but with the window closed the room is essentially soundproof, which is awesome. USB ports in the rooms, multiple light switches, multiple shower functions, I just love this place. Staff are super nice, the place is spotless, the food is great. I got the chorizo loaded fries, parmesan fries and the alla diavolola pizza, which as you can see were delicious and decent portions 🩷

Beautiful bar, restaurant and courtyard. I love the vibe of this place. Shared a few drinks and an afternoon tea with my daughters. It's kind of in the wrong side of town, the charger end, as its near the gate, which attracts a young rowdy crowd. But this hotel is beautiful. Thecity is compact, so ideally placed for exploring. Staff were attentive and cheery..

Excellent hotel in an excellent locatiin, central to everything in Newcastle and close to train station. The room was large and roomy and clean. The bathroom was upmarket bathroom but the only oroblem was the water pressure in the shower wasnt great but not a great issue Overall I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
