Stopped for a hot beverage and some cake. The table we had was cleared and cleaned before we sat by down by the window. Our order was taken quickly and our drinks arrived in good time along with one cake, while we waited a while longer for the toasted tea-cake. The portion of cake was thinner than expected for £4.25p and was a little dry. Overall, great service and pleasant staff.

It’s a nice place to have food after hiking for hours. Food is tasty and the price is reasonable. A very friendly service.

My son and I had lasagne. It was ok, but I have to say, it was the weirdest white sauce I've ever seen in a lasagne. It was like a thick layer or white jelly/custard. Hardly any mince. For £15, it was disappointing. Good portion of chips, could do with a little more salad. Not a great photo, pieces that I've cut and left. I mentioned it to the waitress, but all she said was that she'd pass it on. No other response. My husband said his steak pie was ok. Didn't order drinks or dessert.

We come here a lot and the food is really good. However, we just ordered toasties and added chips for £2.50. There were just a few chips on the plate so I queried this, as this was not enough for the price. Unbeknownst to me they ADDED a bowl of chips without asking me (!!) and then charged £3.50. Which actually, is much more reasonable than the few for £2.50. I explained the issue to the manager and said how poor value the £2.50 was and how I was actually querying this not asking for more and I was totally brushed off. It was really embarrassing to be treated like this when we come here regularly as my mum lives here. Just ask for the £3.50 chips and to the manager: take away the ‘add chips’. EVERYWHERE ELSE you are getting a reduction on the price of the add on chips to have with your meal. They are usually the same size as the side. How on Earth can people distinguish between asking for the £2.50 and £3.50. Just keep the one option. And value your customers!
