Country Cottage Holidays - The Smithy

Step through the door of The Smithy and you're straight into a stone cottage with real character—exposed beams, original walls, and the kind of layout that works. Everything is on the ground floor: living room with Freesat and a smart TV; a kitchen and dining space two steps up, properly equipped with an electric oven, hob, dishwasher and washer-dryer; a master bedroom with a king-size bed; a second bedroom with a single; and a shower room. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are all included. The property sleeps three.

French windows from the living room open onto a raised patio with garden furniture, where the real appeal becomes clear—you're looking out over Troutsdale valley towards rolling moorland. On clear nights the sky here fills with stars. A bike store sits on-site and there is parking for two cars. One well-behaved dog can stay free; other pets may be welcome if you arrange it beforehand.

The cottage sits across a country lane from Manor House Farm, deep in the North York Moors National Park. It makes a quiet base whether you're here to walk, explore the coast, or simply watch the sky darken. No smoking inside.
