Corn Stook is a detached cottage on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, a mile from Sawdon village. The location works as a base for exploring the surrounding countryside on foot or by bike, with forest trails accessible directly from the property. Raptor View Point is a short drive away, the area has notably dark skies for stargazing, and North Yorkshire Water Park—the region's largest natural water sports lake—lies 6 miles off. Whitby, York, Malton, Helmsley and Pickering (with its steam railway) are all within reasonable distance, as are Castle Howard and the settings used in Heartbeat.
The cottage holds a kingsize bed and bathroom on the ground floor, with the living and dining space upstairs. There is an open fire, a woodburner, a kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer, and a private seating area outside with a bench and barbecue. A fenced pond sits 70 yards from the property. Guests have use of shared laundry facilities and a 1-acre landscaped garden with woodland, seating areas and bike storage. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are included; logs for the open fire are provided. The property does not permit smoking.

Idyllic. Remote but accessible and with abundantly generous hosts this is a wonderful place in a cracking part of the world. Walks, wildlife and plenty of wind! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit - we’ll be back!

We spent a lovely week in wheatsheath cottage in July, it was very comfortable and spotlessly clean, within beautiful grounds. I would not hesitate to recommend these cottages, a great place to stay
