Glaisdale sits in a valley of the North York Moors, where the River Esk runs through the village and bridle paths crisscross the surrounding countryside. The area draws walkers and cyclists heading to the Moors or down to the Yorkshire Heritage Coast; Whitby is eight miles away. Locally, you have a village shop, post office, butcher and pub within the community, plus access to prettier villages tucked into neighbouring valleys and the smugglers' coves at Robin Hoods Bay and Runswick Bay.
Denham is a detached stone farmhouse over two centuries old, with beamed ceilings and period detail woven through its rooms. Four bedrooms sleep eight: two with kingsize beds and en-suite or nearby shower room, two with pairs of single beds. Three bathrooms and a separate toilet mean no queuing. Downstairs holds a living room with smart TV, a large kitchen-dining space with woodburner, and a conservatory opening to the garden. A travel cot and highchair are available if needed.
The enclosed, lawned garden has a terraced patio with furniture for sitting out; a 22-step descent leads to a lower landscaped and wooded section where children can play safely. You have parking for two cars on site. Essentials including heating oil, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are covered. No smoking throughout.
