Gowland Farm- Over Across
North Yorkshire
Photo: Google Maps
Gowland Farm's converted stone barns sit two miles from the coast in North Yorkshire, positioned between Whitby and Scarborough. Over Across is one of these properties, spread across two floors with an uneven layout that gives it character—the kitchen sits two steps down from the entrance, and the bedrooms occupy different levels beneath original beamed ceilings. The cottage sleeps six: a double on the first floor, a twin on the ground floor, and upstairs a twin with an additional single cabin bed. One bathroom serves the property, with a shower over the bath.
The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking, with an electric oven, gas hob and the essentials to prepare family meals. The living room, also on the ground floor, has a three-seater sofa and armchairs facing an electric fire and Freeview TV, with French doors opening onto a patio. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included. There is private parking for two cars on site, a washing machine and tumble dryer in an external utility room, and a games room with a pool table and table tennis. One dog can stay free of charge.
The main draw is the heated indoor pool, kept at 28°C and shared with other guests staying on the farm. A sauna and changing facilities are also available. The setting suits families or groups of friends wanting a base for coastal days out, with enough onsite activities to fill quieter periods.
