Herring Cottage
North Yorkshire
Herring Cottage is a three-storey property dating from the 1700s, originally built as an outbuilding to a nearby manor before its conversion to a fisherman's home. The cottage sits close to Whitby harbour, with pubs within walking distance and the sea moments away. It sleeps four across two bedrooms: a kingsize on the lower ground floor and twin singles on the first floor, with one bathroom fitted with a shower cubicle.
The ground floor holds an open-plan living space combining sitting area, dining and kitchen in one room. You get a gas cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and washing machine, so cooking and laundry are straightforward. A leather corner sofa faces a smart TV with Freesat. Essentials are covered: electricity, gas central heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included. The cottage is furnished throughout and comes with a travel cot if needed.
Access involves 28 steps to the entrance, and the stairs to the top floor bedroom are steep due to the building's age. The location puts you near coffee shops, eateries and traditional pubs, with Whitby's swing bridge and the cobbled streets of the old town within ten minutes on foot. No smoking inside the property.
