Hildas Hideaway is a three-storey cottage tucked down a quiet yard off Flowergate in Whitby town centre. You'll find yourself a short walk from the harbour, cobbled streets and independent shops. The property dates from 1805 and has been furnished with a mix of antique and modern pieces; eclectic artwork from local galleries covers the walls. The stairs are steep and the bedrooms have sloping ceilings typical of a period cottage.
Ground floor holds the kitchen, which is fully equipped for cooking, along with a bathroom containing a bath with shower over. The first floor up has a lounge with sofas, a second dining area and an electric wood-burning stove. The top floor contains two double bedrooms—each 4ft 6in—with dormer windows that look out over Whitby's rooftops towards the abbey and sea. Both have built-in wardrobes and in-room sinks. The cottage sleeps four and is yours alone: you get the whole property to yourself, with on-road parking, wi-fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels all included. No smoking is permitted, and the property is not suitable for children under 12.
Whitby's maritime and Gothic heritage—its connection to Bram Stoker, the dramatic cliffs and abbey ruins, and events like the Goth Weekend—draws visitors year-round. A pub is within a mile's walk. Bitz N Pizzas is nearby for food.
