Pear Tree Cottage

North Yorkshire

View on Google Maps

North Yorkshire's moorland landscape draws walkers and cyclists year-round, with forest trails crisscrossing the region between Broxa and Harwood Dale. Pear Tree Cottage sits within these grounds as a converted barn, part of a small cluster of holiday properties set on a working farm. The cottage itself is detached and entirely yours for the duration of your stay, with its own enclosed patio, private hot tub (charged separately), and direct access to the surrounding woodland and gardens.

Inside, everything is on ground level: an open-plan living space with a 42-inch Smart TV and DVD player, a separate dining area, and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking—electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave and fridge. Bedroom 1 has a king bed with en-suite shower; Bedroom 2 has two single beds and its own en-suite. Both bathrooms include heated towel rails. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included, and initial logs for the wood burner are provided. Parking for one car is private; two electric charging points are shared with other cottages on the site. The 4-acre grounds contain a play area (with swings and slide for younger children, who need supervision), and there's an unfenced stream in the woodland and a fenced pond 500 yards away. No smoking is permitted in the cottage.

The farm itself dates to around 1830, with records mentioning Thirley Cotes in the Doomsday Book. Original features remain—look for the Roman numerals carved into the wooden roof trusses marking their construction date. The setting suits families wanting space and outdoor access, or anyone based near the Moors for exploring on foot or by bike.
