Deep in the North York Moors National Park, Thirley Cotes Farmhouse occupies a rural setting that dates back centuries—the site itself appears in the Domesday Book, though the current Grade II listed structure dates to around 1830. The property sits within a converted farmyard alongside other holiday cottages, surrounded by 4 acres of woodland with a children's play area on the grounds. The location suits families or groups wanting space and countryside without being cut off; Scarborough is nearby for coast and attractions.

This detached four-bedroom conversion sleeps eight across three storeys. The ground floor holds a living room with log burner and a separate dining room, plus a kitchen with electric range and dishwasher opening onto the gardens. Upstairs are three bedrooms (one with a king bed and ensuite roll-top bath, one with a super king, and one with twin singles), plus a family bathroom. The second floor adds a fourth bedroom with twins and a shower room, alongside a games room with pool table and 49-inch TV. Outside, a patio and garden furniture overlook the Moors; a hot tub (available for additional cost) accommodates six. One well-behaved pet is welcome.

Essentials including heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered. The kitchen is equipped for cooking from scratch, and an initial fuel load for the wood burners is provided. There is an unfenced stream in the woodland and a fenced pond 500 yards away; families with young children should note the play area on-site is for under-sevens and requires supervision. No smoking throughout.

Spent the week with the family (5 Adults, 2 teenagers plus 2dogs) between Xmas and new year at the farm house. Excellent is the only word to describe the whole experience. Accommodation, location, views, personnel, hot tub etc etc. On the morning we were due to leave we woke to a very heavy snowfall and it was obvious that we would not be able to leave. We got a call from Jenny saying don’t worry and stay as long as we needed. A few hours later one of the girls arrived on a tractor and gave us extra logs for the woodburner and made sure we were ok. We managed to get out 36 hours later than planned-which was no problem. All the staff we met and spoke to were absolutely brilliant. Would highly recommend and will definitely return-thank you.

2nd time of visiting here and booked the same cottage Pear Tree Cottage. Lovely welcome pack, which included lovely bread, milk, wine, local marmalade biscuits. They even kindly swapped the dolce gusto coffee machine for a nespresso Machine. Bed is really comfortable, cottage well equipped and a smart TV, so can use your own prime or Netflix logins

We stayed in Willow Cottage for a week in early September with our Border Collie and had a brilliant stay. It was the best cottage we've ever stayed in with a lovely hot tub. Ideal for visiting Whitby and Scarborough. We'll be back
