The Old Bakery
North Yorkshire
The Old Bakery began life as a working bakery in the 1870s, and its history is woven into the fabric of this three-storey apartment. Located on Church Street in central Whitby, it occupies one of the town's oldest quarters, where cobbled streets wind between independent shops, restaurants and cafes. The building has been thoroughly restored while keeping its character intact, with period features like a wrought iron staircase connecting the floors and a peaceful roof terrace at the top where you can sit outside.
The layout spreads across three levels. Ground floor: a utility room and bedroom with kingsize bed and en-suite bathroom. First floor: a second kingsize bedroom with Freeview TV and walk-in shower, plus a third bedroom with zip-and-link single beds and separate toilet. Second floor: open-plan living space with a 49-inch smart TV, Sky and Blu-ray, wood-burning stove effect electric heater, dining area and kitchen with electric range, dishwasher and full-size fridge. Essentials like heating, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are included. Travel cot, highchair and stairgate are available on request.
Whitby Abbey is a short walk away, and the harbour, long sandy beach and coastal footpaths are all on your doorstep. The town hosts the Goth Festival, Regatta, and various music festivals throughout the year. Day trips to Runswick Bay, Staithes and Robin Hood's Bay are easily reached. Parking is available at a public car park 50 yards away. Smoking is not permitted.
