The Old Reading Room occupies the first and second floors of a duplex on Hunter Street in Whitby, with the essentials—electricity, bed linen and towels—included. Two bedrooms sleep four: a twin on the first floor and a master on the second, served by a single shower room. The first floor also has a living room with two sofas and a TV, plus a kitchen diner equipped for self-catering. The ground floor and upper storeys are not part of this let.
Whitby's high street runs within walking distance, lined with bars, restaurants and independent shops; Botham's Bakery and tearoom is roughly two minutes away on foot. The town draws visitors to Whitby Abbey, the ruins on the headland above the bay, and to museums and seasonal festivals—the Goth weekend, Folk Festival and Regatta among them. The beaches and harbour are nearby. A pub sits within a mile. Children under 11 are not accommodated; smoking is not permitted inside.
