About Stonehaugh Campsite
Tucked on the edge of Wark Forest, roughly halfway between Hexham and Kielder Water, Stonehaugh Campsite occupies a genuinely peaceful spot in the Northumberland National Park. Spacious pitches spread across level ground, with clean facilities powered by wind turbine and solar-heated water. There's a small shop for essentials, and campers praise the friendly welcome and reasonable prices, though the site can feel a touch remote—the nearest pub is a short walk to the village social club (open Friday and Saturday evenings), and for proper supplies you'll want to stock up in Hexham or Bellingham, both about 25 minutes away.
The location more than compensates: Hadrian's Wall is 20 minutes' drive, gravel cycling and mountain biking await in Wark Forest, and walkers have the Pennine Way and NCN 68 on the doorstep. A ten-minute stroll brings you to Warksburn picnic area for a paddle in the burn. It's a well-placed, unfussy base for exploring Northumberland's bigger landscapes.

What visitors say
If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful setting, away from it all, this is for you. There is a good woodland walk on the doorstep, and plenty of space. The showers and toilets are powered by wind and solar and there is a bath in the family bathroom which is fantastic after a long hike. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Super campsite. Loved the drive here. Located in a small village that was built to house forestry workers. Eco friendly site with a wind turbine and solar panels providing power for hot water. Grass field with large level pitches for a mix of tents and Motorhomes. EHU available if required. Fresh water, waste, Elsan and recycling/waste bins that are emptied daily. Showers and toilets clean and there is lots of info about the area in the cabin. Knowledgeable friendly owner who was really helpful when we arrived and nothing appeared too much trouble. Community hall open Fri/Sat night with bar, pool and an opportunity to meet local folk. £22 (no EHU) for 2 adults pn.

Just got back from a two night stay at this site with family and friends . The site itself was great ,we all stayed in pitch up tents with electric supply.the owner was friendly and helpful. Loads of space, nice and peaceful (well probably more when we left 😀) toilet, washing and shower block was top notch ,we made our own entertainment but there's a great community club nearby that is run by volunteers,it's serves alcohol and soft drinks with bar snacks and there was a pool table, dart board and ping pong table and massive garden outback.plenty of walks in the area and local wildlife and animals... Will definitely be returning 👍🏻
