Deep in Northumberland National Park's Tarset Valley, this five-acre eco-minded site offers gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitches with a genuinely remote feel. The real draw is the location: designated Dark Sky Park status makes it superb for stargazing, while Kielder Water, Kielder Forest and Hadrian's Wall are all within striking distance. The Reivers Cycle route passes nearby too.
On-site, guests love the BYO woodland bar area with firepits – perfect for evenings under the stars – and there's an unusual bird hide that doubles as a bookable sauna. Hot showers run on a pellet boiler system and eco-toilets underline the green credentials. Dogs have five acres to roam, and charcoal, logs and eggs are available to buy.

We stayed in our camper van on the hard standing pitch with no access to the inside facilities. The outside toilet and shower are deplorable. Stay away unless you have guaranteed access to the shower and toilet in the bunk house. However, the bothies and bunkhouse looked fine and great location close to Kielder Water.

Great place, lovely owners, views are spectacular If you're going for dark skies be aware that there are security lights outside all the barns so although therr are many more stars than in the city it's not as dark as it could be

This was our first visit to Tarset Tor, and not our last. The bothy was warm, comfortable and had everything you need for your stay. It was like home from home with nice hot showers and a fully functioning kitchen. The view was really nice no matter what time of day, but it did look lovely when the sunset on a clear night. A peaceful location and very quiet during the night. On departure you do need to strip beds, give a sweep over the floors and a little bit of a clean around but this wasn’t a problem for us. Also make sure to recycle your rubbish at the designated areas on site. Looking forward to another visit in the near future.

Absolutely loved the bunkhouse for our stag do! Absolute gem of a find with its own outdoor bar, fire pit and five a side pitch. Claire and Rob were unbelievably welcoming to our group and helped us with some suggestions for local activities. The bunkhouse is clean and functional for a large group, literally perfect for our needs. I’m already recommending it to others for stag dos and I’ll be considering the bothys for a smaller group holiday which are also amazing!
