About The High Hermitage Holiday Park
Tucked into ancient Northumberland woodland alongside Kitty's Burn stream, The High Hermitage Holiday Park offers a genuinely peaceful wildlife haven within easy reach of both coast and countryside attractions. The compact site, just a short walk from Ovingham village and its friendly pubs, works well as a base for exploring Hadrian's Wall, Alnwick Castle and the Northumberland shoreline – while Prudhoe station is less than a mile away for train connections to Newcastle, Hexham and beyond.
Pitch options range from meadow non-electric grass spots to fully-serviced gravel, and there's fishing available on site with permits from reception. Staff get consistent praise for their attentive, helpful approach to keeping facilities shipshape and guests happy, though some visitors note the amenities can feel a touch tired in places. Still, for walkers, cyclists and anyone seeking a quiet retreat with good transport links, it's a solid Northumberland option.

What visitors say
I have visited this lovely park several times and seen how much it is changing. High Hermitage CP is perfectly placed for days out to Yorkshire and Northumberland and is surrounded by pubs and restaurants. Parts of the site still need a bit of attention but facilities are spotless and the staff are all friendly and knowledgeable and always happy to help and advise about the area. The wildlife around the park is plentiful and Maguires actively encourage and protect the wildlife. I will definitely return to this lovely park

We stayed in our motorhome and can only say what a wondrrful site. As a few people have said the toilet & shower block could do with an update, but that is about to happen, but the ones there are clean and usable. A huge thankyou to Gordon the site warden, what a lovely guy, full of local information on the best roads to use etc and he helped me out with a phone charger as i had brought the wrong one.

A great campsite, Gordon the site warden is lovely and we really enjoyed our stay. The site is emaculate and really well kept, it would be perfect apart from the toilet/shower block that's a bit outdated and a better dish wash facility is needed but looks as though they in the process of updating.

A well located smallish campsite next to the river Tyne. Gordon met me at the gate as was super friendly and helpful pointing out things to do and places to go. There was a storm the night I stayed and he was checking everybody especially those in tents were OK. As previously said in other reviews the toilets are tired but clean. I will be going back.
