About Bowler’s Hill Campsite

Tucked into a working farm near Stocksfield, Bowler's Hill offers genuinely spacious pitching in a flat, open field where you can spread out as much as you like. Dogs are especially welcome here, with their own one-acre exercise area to tear around in – though some reviews note the facilities can feel a bit basic, with no hot water and only portable loos. Still, if you're after peace and simplicity rather than bells and whistles, it hits the mark.

The site's surprisingly accessible without a car: Stocksfield and Prudhoe stations are both within two miles, and buses serve the area too. Once settled, you're well placed for exploring – Newcastle is half an hour's drive, the Northumberland coast an hour away – and there's a country pub less than a mile down the road for evenings when you'd rather not cook. Campfires and barbecues are allowed, adding to the laid-back, walkers-and-wildlife vibe.

I tried to book this campsite on pitch up but didn’t know how to book with us having 3 tents on one pitch, I called the number which was on the campsite and they were lovely and very accommodating, they explained we could pay in cash when we arrived, we also inquired about a fire pit and wood which they had at an additional cost (which was very affordable £5 for the fire pit and £10 for a bag of wood) which we were more than happy to purchase. The lady who I spoke too dropped off the wood and the fire pit, the next day I required another bag of wood which she dropped off quicker than I anticipated which was amazing, always had a smile too which was nice. The toilets were very clean and stocked with toilet paper and the one shower they had, had hot running water which was amazing! Absolutely gutted we’ve only just now found this campsite as I would have loved to have done a camping trip every year here. Thank you for making our trip amazing

If you are traveling and happen to be near Newcastle upon Tyne, this is a wonderful place to pitch your tent and enjoy nature, peace, and tranquility. The campsite staff are simply amazing — always willing to help and accommodate your needs. There are showers and toilets, all very clean and convenient. The atmosphere is great, making it a perfect spot to relax in nature. A big thank you to the whole team! May your land always be blessed with prosperity and blessings!

Lovely spacious well kept field with nice views, 2x portable loos and shower we’re clean. Was nice and quiet also whilst we were there. A few shops/petrol stations etc also within 1-2 mile if you are short of anything. No fuss well kept site will definitely be returning.

Very overpriced. Filthy portaloos and one tap. The plus points were a good dog exercise field and the field was well mown.
