Bailiffgate

Bailiffgate is a Grade II listed cottage in Alnwick, renovated throughout and furnished with care. The ground floor holds a living room with a woodburner and beamed ceiling, original exposed stonework, and a brick fireplace. The kitchen and dining area is open-plan and well-equipped—electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine mean you can manage a week's stay without thinking about it. A drying room at the rear is useful for muddy boots and coats after walking.

Upstairs are two bedrooms, both with zip-and-link single beds that convert to a super king on request, so the layout suits couples, friends sharing, or families. The bathroom has a bath with shower. Electricity, bed linen, towels and superfast Wi-Fi throughout are included; one small dog can stay free. The cottage is on a quiet street yards from Alnwick Castle, in a town of cobbled roads, independent shops and old pubs. The Northumberland countryside surrounds it, and the coast is five miles away. A pub is within a mile's walk.
