Edlingham is a hamlet between two significant towns: Alnwick to the east and Rothbury to the west, each about 6 miles away. The village itself has a medieval castle and a 12th-century church. Garden Cottage sits on a working farm here, a single-storey property that looks out across open countryside. It's a straightforward base for two people wanting to explore the area without fuss.
Inside, everything is on the ground floor. The bedroom has a king-size bed; the bathroom combines bath and shower. The living and dining space has a TV and DVD player, while the kitchen is equipped with an electric cooker, microwave and fridge-freezer, so you can cook or keep meals simple as you prefer. Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are all included. Outside, there's an enclosed garden with patio and seating, plus parking for two cars on site.
Rothbury, west across the hills, sits on a river popular with salmon and trout fishers and is a hub for walking and cycling. Cragside, the National Trust property that was the first house to use hydro-electricity, is 4 miles away. Alnwick to the east has a castle, gardens with a landmark waterfall, and the usual market-town facilities. No smoking in the property.
