The Racecourse Lodge
Northumberland
Families, larger groups and couples looking for somewhere different will find The Racecourse Lodge stands next to Hexham Racecourse, 600 feet above the town. The steephouse hosts around fifteen race meetings a year, and guests staying here get a front-row perspective on both the sport and the surrounding countryside. Everything is on one level—living and dining space, three twin bedrooms, two shower rooms and a kitchen that handles straightforward cooking without fuss.
Six people can sleep across three bedrooms, each with a pair of single beds and views out over the moorland. Two separate bathrooms means less waiting around in the mornings. Essentials like electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are provided, and there is private parking for four cars on site. The lodge itself is compact and furnished plainly; a patio with garden furniture sits outside.
Hexham, just over two miles away, has restaurants, pubs and year-round attractions. The location works equally well for those drawn to racing, walkers wanting access to the North Pennines, or simply anyone after a quiet base in the hills. No smoking throughout.
