Wardens Cottage
Northumberland

Hindley sits deep in Northumberland's countryside, the kind of place where you wake to fields rather than roads. Wardens Cottage occupies a former gamekeeper's lodge within the grounds of Hindley House, giving you direct access to bridle paths and the extensive estate to explore on foot. A large pond with ducks and wildlife sits nearby. The setting is genuinely quiet—the sort of base where a walk around the grounds can fill half a day.
Inside, the cottage holds two bedrooms: a king in the main room and two singles in the second, with space for a travel cot. The living area has a log burner (first day's logs included), a Smart TV with Sky, and proper heating throughout. The kitchen is equipped for real cooking—electric oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine—so you're not reliant on takeaways. Electricity, bed linen and towels come as standard. One dog is welcome. There's parking for two cars and a bike store if you're bringing cycles. Smoking is not permitted.
Corbridge, with its restaurants and riverside walks, is eight miles away. Hexham's a similar distance in the other direction. From here you can reach day-trip destinations—Kielder Observatory, the Roman forts at Chesters and Housesteads, Derwent Waterside Park for cycling and sailing—without the property feeling close to anywhere. The Scottish Borders and Lake District are both within reach for longer expeditions.
